nyone in the Nobleton, Richmond Hill(King + HWY 27) Area???
I live in London and am looking for an IROC or Z28 with either a black, white or Red exterior and found a car on auto trader.ca. It's a white 1886 IROC for $1800 at AJ Lucas Auto Sales. All I really care about for the car is no rust(or minimal surface rust) and a good dash/centre console(basically no cracks). I really don't have the time to go take a look at the car so I was wondering if anyone in the area could possibly check it out and let me know what condition it's in. I'm assuming not very good since it's only $1800 from a dealer. Again all I really need is a through look at the body/frame for rust and if it looks good or not. If it looks good, I'll come up to take a look at it myself and if I take it home I'll make it worth your time for whoever helps me out. Here's a pic also....

I'm a good 20 min away from there. But save yourself the trouble and don't look at that car. It's been in an accident I can tell just by looking at the picture, it has 15 inch rims, it needs major major work and it isn't worth that much. I guarantee you the dash is cracked.

Look at the front end. The hood is sitting a little up. It might possibly be just open, but judging that the foglights are seized and pointing down I take it the car has been front-ended and that has been replaced and they didn't fix the foglights (I've seen a car iwth that problem before)... Look at the headlights... they look screwed up to me. Plus look at the front wheels they aren't sitting right

I am looking for somewhat of a project car but not something that's been in an accident. Does look somewhat rough shape yer right. I probably am just better off leaving it alone and waiting for something else to come along. How is the selection of IROC's and Z28's come spring time that are for sale??? I'm just worried I might miss out and end up paying alot more for something I dont want to pay alot for in the beginning. Rather put money into the car so I know exactly what I'm paying for. easySPEEDcamaro are there any cars still in the trader that you liked?

well... I was thinkin on spending 3-5k but the longer I wait the more I could possibly spend(up to 8k maybe by summer). Altho I'd rather buy a minimally sound car and rebuild it myself. I've built a couple stockcars and done some local racing and the one thing I hate is body work
interior isn't so much of a pain for seats, floors but dash and centre consoles I'd like to have in good condition. So as I said before all I want is a good body and non-cracked dash basically. I have a 350 I plan on swapping in with an unchosen tranny as of yet. Basically the closer to 3k the better.

Good eye.
Buy a car now over the winter. The prices for thirdgen cars are going up next year. If your looking for one with good paint and body expect to pay $7000 and up. I remember a year ago when the price was averaging $5000. NOW, i keep finding Trans Am's and Camaro's in good condition and 200 000 plus kms for over 7K.
If you can find one for cheap now go for it. Other wise be ready to pay come next spring.

I have seen hoods sitting up worse than that. They're heavy and they get out of adjustment due to the weight. There are two little bumpers inside underneath the hood on the frame that adjust with a little twist. It's possible they merely need to be adjusted. The hood might ave been replaced and just never properly aligned afterwards. F-body hoods have a tendency to rust out due to the recessed headlights, thus, a lot of third gens will have had their hood replaced by now. The fog lights are mounted on a flexibble front fascia- one that's bound to have bumped a few parking curbs and scraped a few ramps in its day. To me, that could explain the poor allignment of them.
The only way you'll know if the car has been in an accident is to actually go and look at it (and bring someone with a trained eye- like someone who does collision work) as well as checking the V.I.N. with the M.T.O. Dealers just wanna unload cars this old "as is". They won't go to the trouble to clean it up and try to hide stuff because they'll never get their money back out of the older cars. The poor sap who traded it in likley got about $500 for it out of the dealer, so even at $1800, they're making a decent profit. They just wanna get it off their lot. I wouldn't write it off as junk so easily. It's priced to sell. Might be in rough shape, but might not be.

The wheels are not the proper ones for 1986, they look like 1988 15", the fog lamps appear to be resting on the fascia, possibly missing the brackets, could we actually be looking at an Iroc clone? Perhaps someone was in the process of making a clone and gave up before all of the pieces were aquired. Just a guess...
