2003 Eclipse vs me?

Sup duderz

A guy I know just got his 2003 Eclipse..
hes been waiting a while, he wanted to race me with his parents GTP not long ago, but I refused with my bad *** brakes.
Good thing I didnt!

But he will probley ask to challange me in my camaro...
I dunno, it sounds tempting..
his parents just bought him this car, I think it was like 28 grand?

His car has 210hp, 5spd , and 205 tourqe I think.
is it worth the time or what?

I gots 240hp or more I need to dyno to be SURE.
But yeah whats the word?

they are not super fast in stock form, its just that your car is slow and not properly maintained.

also they are lighter, and he has a 5psd, and you have an auto, and likely 2.73s

well to get top preformance you need to have your car runnnig right, which for most of us, including me, is an on going process.

is it worth the time or what?
you make it sound like you will beat him no problem...i am just trying to help you out by letting you know not to mess with him, and not to run your mouth off to him.

anyway, good luck on getting the rich condition solved, if i knew anything about tbi i would suggest something

The guy who built my engine said anywheres from 225-240hp but most likely more up there at the 240 range.
I said.. ok
It has ***** man, I dont know why everyone keeps thinking it slow. Yeah its a sport coupe and what not, whatever, its still fast. I raced all the time in my older 305 I took out lots of ****ty celicas and gay cars like those, they are nothing.
weight is there only advantage.

Yeah SOrry It just pisses me off, I put so much time and effort into making something out of this car... My funds are limited, I just got my older job back (the one before the casino one) and Im making money agian, just not as much. At 19 its hard to keep a car like this in Ontario, But i love these cars soooo much but its a real stressful car to keep when u cant afford it, Now I ****ed up and bought it thinking its allllll good, now my parents are teaching me a lesson that I ****ed up and now I got to live with it.
But dont go bashing people like that for nothing? I dont bash anyone on the board, I know my cars not mint, but if you give me time it will become something nice.

im only 20 and in school and i dont have a mint car either, no where near in fact, but i do look after it mechanically......those that have seen it know it is dirty and needs some work......hhahah.....hell right now it looks like i went mudding running cause my gravel road was muddy as hell.

anyway my point is you need to try to learn how to fix things and do things yourself...you will save money and gain knowledge. most of the guys here are in the same situation, young with little cash and lots of plans.....and you are right..it all takes time.

I didnt see this sorry for swearing at u..
Just pissed off im good now..
I feel like theres a wall infront of me that I cant get by, if I want to do something performance with this car, than everyones like "why do you need a performance part" Or "why do you need it loud", or "why do you need it faster" its always like this!
ANd when I go to buy something for my car I feel so guilty like im doing something bad. its very stressful...
im speaking about like my family and friends.
And I want to go to the track with u guys to show off something, but like what am I going to show? wow a 307 woahhhh step away boys.

Yeah as for that Transmission mount.
My buddies dad is going to show us how to do it and let us do it in his shop. So far ive been trying to do everything my self or with a friend. Its just major engine work that i have no idea what im doing, but now Im just going to try to do it my self, ive been trying to learn and have been learning small things, like how to do brakes and stuff, heck its small business for the mechanics out there but its a huge step for a guy who knew nothing about his car the day he bought it

Meh, no offense to anyone here...but Dave, f*ck 'em. What people on here or anywhere care about your car shouldn't matter a bit...hell, I'm driving an high-milage 2.8 mostly-stock vehicle...love it. If you need to hear the kudos from others on here to enjoy the car, then you're really approaching it the wrong way. And I hear your frustrations, I'm 20 here, trying to pay for school at the same time as well as the car...good luck.

Dave, you have to hit the dyno, I'm curious if your engine builder was right, or just talking out of his a$$... race him dood, why not? If everyone though like that "oh, I'm not going to race him, I may lose" then there would be no such thing as NHRA, IHRA Nascar, Formula, Indy... etc etc.. it's all about fun in my eyes.. heck, I got beat by a gutted out civic with slicks and engine swap... whoopty do, its all fun... I just hate when people rub it in your face.... like that idiot 85WS6TransAM...

So, I say go for it... as for the GTP, they also have 240 horse, so that would have been a close race as well... you have to go for a ride in my buddy's Regal GS (same body as GTP), man oh man is that thing fast!!! He'll be handinmg me my a$$ next summer for sure, unless I get some headers and such

Its depressing, so many new cars now are breaking the 200hp barrier. Its open season on LB9's ( i guess it has been for a long time now). With turbo neons and turbo PT cruisers, WRX's, 390 HP SVT Cobra's, 6cly Altimas, 255 hp NA Maximas yada yada yada, I'm just gonna enjoy my car for what it is, I haven't got the coin to mod the powertrain so I'm just gonna have to live withit.

Dave, I just don't see you hitting that 240 HP mark with your current setup...

There are plenty of guys here that run a lot more powerful combos than the mods you got and they've run it on the dyno and the track. They do know what they're talking about, they have the results, on paper and on track to prove it.

It's just one of the things you have to remember about this board in particular, don't talk numbers that people figure in your head unless you got the stuff to back it up. We're about 1/4 mile times and the dyno. Only truth here from those who run the track.

So finally, run your car against him...

don't go saying you may win or you will win... JUST DO IT!

I've done a good amount of street kills and highway kills of preludes, integras and civics. Most cars I come across are driven by kids that don't know any better.

When you see a power car, a domestiic or import, you will get your *** handed to you and you know what, it doesn't really matter...

A lot of drivers on this board build their cars out of pride in something they've created and accomplished. The true test of our cars is a competition with ourselves really. When you understand that concept perhaps you'll better understand why we rag on you and anyone else.

Yah dude... run it because that's what these cars' are about...RACING!

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. EVERYTIME you learn something about your car.

Run him, but be humble about it... you may be surprised by the result...especialy if you go into only expecting not to embarrass yourself

good luck!

sup guys

yeah yeah its all good...
Im going to race him anyways, as soon as I get the rest of my **** finished with, if you guys want to see the dyno results ill ask my cousin if he can hook me up with a run, to see what shes got. That engine rebuilder is probley full of ****, who knows. I can feel that my car has a lot more power than before though. But yeah, after I posted those earlier post of mine, I took my car up to my buddies to work on the car in his garage. I decided to finally take care of the small stupid problems in my car, like the hatch lock, I figured out whats wrong with it, the plastic peice that holds in the motor broke, so what I did was, I bought some super glue, glued the one on back (the others were 2 crappy to save) and just took out the plastic trimming around the side and re-installed my sub box agian so theres room for everything to mess with for when I go to do the total change up, its just a temp fix for now. I also installed a light for my heater unit and fixed a small part of my front gfx, and also fixed my passenger side seat, took it out and tighted the bults under it, they were all crappy and loose the seat felt like ****, so than I gave it a good wash, looks good, now just gotta finish with that hatch problem. for now its fixed but its just a temp fix. I know that everything is numbers around here and I will give u proof of the HP I have, im not lieing, if thats what the guy said to me, than thats what he said, I wouldent be making it up, but I really want to know my self if the guy knows what hes talking about. Will see...

In the case of our cars.. really the case of our cars.. its the torque that'll be more important and how long you keep it up before hp peak. without that your car is more or less toast due to the 3500 lb weight issue...

And that was on my old engine also, pulling a serious 170hp.
STILL HAD THE BROKEN TRANNY MOUNT ALSO.

Oh hey, what kinda mount did I need agian?
there was a special kind of tranny mount u guys told me to get?

Again, let me restate...DO NOT get the polyurethane mount Dave. You're wasting your money and you might not even like it when it's done. Get the 1LE one from GM...Nathan has the part number for it I believe.
