I don't know anything about either of them, but I would stay away from the Ottawa one. That one looks rough, and is being stored on the grass...Yuk!. As for the Niagara Falls one...Looks clean. and better taken care of. Mind you I am sure that the price is far different for the one to the other. How much are they asking for the Yellow one??? And how much for the red one???

OK so the blue one has 196,000 km on it right. That explians the price. Hmmm. As for the Yellow one, have you called this fella yet?? 410 hp, that would be nice...$6,000. not to bad. I would call and get some more info if you are really interested that is. You want to make sure that engine really has it's 410hp. time slips or dyno sheets, something to prove what is said. Both Nathan and I live a few minutes away. If you were to call the person and get more info, and decide you are even more interested. I'm sure one of us, or both even could go have a look see. After all your about 3 hrs away. Give them a call and see how it goes. Let us know how you make out.

I'm just waiting to see on how much I'm approved for on credit... I'll call right now and ask what info he has for the car. I'll find out at the end of this week or beginning of next week if I can afford the car right now.... otherwise it might be another month or so before I'm ready to purchase but not hurt in lookin now still. BTW, thx for the help in lookin!

OH, and the blue one says 96,000 MILES and is actually in pretty damn good condition.. underbody, interior, suspension(stock, unknown if renewed) and the engine just passed e-test in nov... not sure on #'s... it sounds quiet and like it's running well also. I dunno, coulda been rebuilt... but I really dotn care either way cause it's only a 305 and the body/interior are in great condition and it's looking like i'm gonna have to pay 3k+ for one in running condition with such a body anyway.

one more thing... basically I'm just trying to figure out if i want to put alot of money down and do small mods or put a little money down and do a swap this coming summer(305 to 383 most likely). Yellow one already has a supposed warm 350 so that would be nice... bah I dunno!

Well that's just it...tuff choice. DO you want to biuld the engine yourself, or buy one already with some go go juice. At least with the Yellow one you can goe flyin around right away. The blue one is stock like you said, but a TPI. Yeap...tuff choice. I takeit you already sen teh Blue one in person, or just talked to the guy? It sound not to bad. Remember 96000miles is still like 186000 km ro close to that anyway...just a guesstamet. Let us know how you make out...or how we could help.

ok just called and here's what he says... engine was built for the track(1/4) by a buddy and he bought the engine and dropped it in... says it did 12.5(didn't ask if he actually has slips)... is .30 over, 202 studded and machined heads... doesn't know cam specifics, edlebroek scopion high-rise intake, roller-rockers(didn't ask if true or anythign specifics), 10.5:1 compression ummm... has a couple guys comin to check it out this weekend car is probably gonna go fast

that yellow IROC is awesome. definetly look into that unit. make sure he can prove the HP. also take it for a drive and make sure the T-5 is in good shape....they normally dont like that much power....but some survive with that much in front of them. anyway that car should be damn fast and it sure as hell looks damn good.

the blue one I've seen and taken for a drive in person... nothin special seems alright except that it needs a new idler arm pretty bad and new tires.

I'm thinkin exactly what yer saying... I'd like to have one already with some go go so maybe I should get you guys to check it out and if it looks good I'll come take a looksee and pick her up if I can gather enough cash. COME ON VISA!!!!!

hmmm...12.5........thats fast....i wish i was that fast.

anyway, definetly go and take a look at it. i think the edelbrock scorpion intake is an old single plane style.

at 10.5 you are looking at running premium gas all the time, but you probably know that. you gotta play to pay. i run the good stuff all the time, expensive, but cheaper than a new motor.

Ok...Just got of the phone with the fells(Aaron) The car sounds good too. I have arranged that I will call him Saturday morning, and we will meet up sometime then.

Justin It really dose "sound"like a nice car... It has no radio in it though. recent exhaust, new clutch. Engine has only been in the car for a month or so.

not to sound like the devil's advocate or something but...

consider the fact the car has been in the autotrader for over a week and it isn't sold yet... hmm...? i remember when i was shopping for a car, if it was good, it would disappear in a night...

not saying it's junk... but it does say $6000 OBO so even moreso, just offer $4400 or something :P

easy, first of all it is winter...sports cars dont sell as quick now as they do in spring/summer. second of all a week in the autotrader is not very long...if its in there for like say, a month, then somehting might be up.

anyway RegaPlanet, hopefully this one works out for yeah, it looks like a great car.

That is why I am going to see it!!! I am not going to down grade this car till I have looked it over. Unfortuneatly my digital cam is not working right now... so I will not be able to post pictures.

I am however going to try and get the number of the guy who built this engine. This way I can get rid of the he said she said bullsh*t! I will be leaving in about a 1/2 hour to go see....so. Talk to you all later.

OK here is the update...Seen the car, not a $2000 paint job, more like $800 and 4/5 years old. The car does need some TLC that is for sure. As for the engine, sounds strong revs fast and does rummble very nicely. Didn't get any actualll specs on the cam and stuff yet. He has my # and is going to call me with the info. He has another person coming this afternoon. I however did not bother driving the car. I chose not to. As for the price..I asked him what he woulld take if someone offered him cash money right now...He said"$5000"...I thought ...no! The car is worth in my eyes with out having full proof of what is in the engine...$4000 tops! Pant is a bit rough, interior is dirty. Strut towers are rusty. The engine does ssound very healthy though, so I do beleive it is what is said. I know he won't take $4000 for it over the phone or something. Face to face..who knows??? It is worth buying it if you like to play and fix things up. If you want a car to just go and drive it...nope!!!! Justin how are you making out cash wise??? Have you decided in anything yet.??? Like I siad it is a pretty good car for the most part, but it does need some work, maybe put a couple of grand into her and you'll have yourself an sweet lookin machine that can eat up mustangs for breakfast, lunch and dinner even. I will post more when he gets back to me. But who knows....these people coming to look at it today may buy it...but I doubt it.

thx again for checking her out kaz.... I really appreciate it. Here is the cash situation. I applied for a cc with a 4k limit and have been approved but am not sure for how much yet HOWEVER the bank and my father(ex banker, accountant) both said I shouldn't have a prob getting that limit(it's my first cc). I also have about $1500 in my bank account. I should be recieving the cc on monday or tuesday... applied on monday right at the bank. Car sounds really awesome.

Ok, lmk when you get the info on the engine, as I'm sure you will What I would like to do also however is take it to a garage and have them look it over just so I know all else which is involved. Unless someone has a hoist I can use I think Aaron lives/works in Toronto during the week or goes to school there... or something...??? But, as soon as I find out my cc limit I'm gonna give him a call and setup a time to go see it for myself with some cash. Since he said he would take 5k cash what do you guys think would be a smart offer to make him? Oh and I am lookin for somethin to fix up and play with so a little work does'nt scare me... I'm not really into bodywork however Anyway, thx again kaz. really appreciate the help!

show up with 4000 grand cash (and maybe another 500 hidden in your pocket if you really want the car) adn make an offer if the car seems to be what you want and what the owner says it is. i say start low, if you really want the car and he wont take 4000 cash, then you can go up a bit from there, but if you start high you cant go down. and definetly make sure you have cash.....people like to see that and it makes them wanna sell. good luck with the bidding...i hope you get it. if you do i will have to come over and check it out.

No prob. Justin. I would offer him $4000 and work from there. The body isn't real bad but could use a bit of love. I do think he is only in town on the weekends, and having a good look underneath is a for sure. I would want to put it on a hoist too. Glad I could help. Hope you get your cash so you can get yourself a new toy. I'll let you know when and if he gets back to me.

Well I know that people are going to flame on this but...I would take it to Canadian tire. Those guys go over the car with a fine tooth comb. If the car has a problem...they will find it. Just make sure to book a appointment if you go the CT route to save you from waiting. Either that or try a actual gm dealership. I would say bring it to our shop but, it isn't open on weekends. Unless you can arrange to get the car during the week. I could arrange something then, and for $60 you might as well try to safety it all at the same time. Up to you.

as we saw with NTchrist's recent experience, it appears that Canadian tire is very particular. however, i would only take it there if you want to see what is wrong withthe car and what it needs. do not let them do anywork, specifiy before hand you just want them to go over it/tell you what it needs to be certified. under no circumstances let them do any work on the car. once you know what it needs do all that you can yourself to get it certified and then take it to a real shop for the rest of the work and the safety........

wait...didnt it say in the add that the car was certified and etested?

Yeah I think it did. Bu that means??? It could have holes in it that they missed or looked over. Hard to say. BUt you are right about CT you want to make sure that they just look it over, and at no time do you want them to fix anything. Good call darbleinad.

well thats good its certified. which means you can just take the safety certificate to the MTO office and get plates..which means you can fix other things at you own pace and dont have to pay someone else to tel safety it for you.

Good call dude!!! Sears is another one... just don't let them drive the car into the shop, YOU DO IT

As long as they THINK they're going to do the work, they'll find everything under the sun that's wrong with it... then go somewhere good for the work

Good luck man.

ok, kinda bad news for the moment... just got the cc info... they gave me a different type of visa than I asked for and only gave me a $500 initial limit. I dunno if there's something bad on my credit or if it's cause I'm still paying off student loans or what. Gonna go into the bank and see what else I can do. I dont care about high interest rates, cause I'll be able to pay off the debt before I even drive the car come spring/summer anyway! so if anyone has any ideas lmk!

I went and talked to information there and the lady recommended getting this certain credit card that has a 10% interest rate which is lower than the 13% interest loan I was looking at.... at the time I forgot that I was paying back the loan asap so interest wasn't a matter. So yea, guess I'm goin for a loan now. wish I could just get my damn parents to co-sign, then i'd have no prob.... just not sure if I'll get one or not cause I already have like 3-4k letf to pay on student loans already

it is my first car but I'm 24.. so not really young... and I do work fulltime and dont have any big bills to pay really so the maintenance and running of the car wont be an issue. Kinda really isnt my first car even as I've built a couple stock cars the last 3yrs so I know what its like to have a money pit to throw cash into Insurance should'nt be too bad either as I've never had any tickets or accidents and am almost 25.

i still think its stupid to get a car of this nature for all year purpose. i drove my Iroc once (one day). And let me tell ya, it was hell. My beater broke and i took the camaro offf the stands and went to work. Not knowing it was goaana snow 5 inches. On the average it takes me 5-8 minutes to get home from work. It took me 35 that day. Praying the whole time for somebody not to hit me.

Glad to hear you not going to be driving the car in the winter because; it is very true our cars with the 16 inch rims and 245/50-16 tires is probably one the worst driving winter car out there, BUT if you put the narrower 15 inch rims and a set of good allseason tires (winter tires even better) and about 50 extra pounds of weight in the rear and these cars can be a pretty damn good cars to drive in the snow (trust me I had to do this a couple of winters in Northern Ontario with a 100 ft driveway and a bit of an uphill ascent).

Unfourtunately the salt is what has to be the biggest concern, but if you wash it constantly then you can help slow this down. Fortunately for me living on Manitoulin Island they dont use as much salt as the cities or highways do, more of a combination of salt and sand. This does make washing the car more often a necesity as well.
