Does anyone out there have a console clock? How does it function? DOES it function?

 

I've got the console clock in my car and for the last 5 years has been running slow, about 5 mins on the hour and also the light on it still works.

I read an article or watched a show, not sure which anymore, that if you clean an old automotive clock that it should get working properly again, but I have yet to prove this theory.
