it just wont start!

it just wont start!

k i need help i was tryin to get my step dads trans am started for him today he is really sick in the hospital so i am tryin to take cars of it for him. it a 84 lg4, stock, its been sittin out side all winter.
k well this is what happend i put gas in since it was on E, i also added some oil since it was low. i put some gas in the carb since its been sittin so long, it will turn over but not start some times it will try to start but just wont go, and then i noticed smoke comeing from the passange side of the engine just below the spark plugz dont no what from. has a funny smell to it though. at that poin i was like 4 get this i dont want to brake it. now i am hopeing u guys can give me a lead so i can get it started 4 him.

You need air, fuel, spark for combustion...

First check the plugs to ensure they aren't fouled up with carbon or some sort of deposit. Next check cap and rotor to ensure the terminals haven't corroded.

before you pull any plugs..pull a wire first,insert a screwdriver and put it close to a ground.get somebody to crank it and see what color the spark is..If white or blue..coil to the wire is good.

For fuel change the filter and see if fuel is coming out when you crank it..
