Exhaust came yesterday!!!

So I came home from a buddies around 3pm and what's sitting in my livingroom... my Hooker cat-back!! The quality of this cat-back is far beyond anything I was expecting. The flanges, hanger mounts and welds are out of this world! Great great quality stuff... super impressed. You'd almost think putting this exhaust on is stiffening my chassis Anyway... yea I'm a diehard and seem to love working in bad weather so the cat-back is already on hahah. I was totally soaked and looked a little like swamp thing by the time I was done but oh boy does she sound mean now. If only I had a lumpier idle... ah well at least I can tell my car is running without looking at the tach now!

I'm making some videos and will hopefully have some up sometime this week of the before and after.

After I took the stock catback off I started her to see what she would sound like cause my friend and I were curious as too how much the cat(stock/original) muffles and restricts flow. Started her up and the idle was exactly to a T the same volume and sound. I was really surprised. Of course after we ripped the cat off it sounded just like any other mild v8 with no exhaust. I thought about just leaving the cat on but I had to do some custom plumbing anyway with the 16822 kit so its off and is staying off for awhile at least. I may invest in a car sound cat if I get spooked enough by these smog police. Still have to do some straightening of the tailpipes and adjust the hangers slightly but she sure does roar and rumble.

Wow, that was pretty quick. Like a kid with a new toy. . I am the same way, I want it on the car asap. You have to love the sound of a v8 with no exhaust. I would like to get a cut out for the track, if not for the minimal gains, then just for the sound.

My pre-cat cut out is worth 2 tenths on track.

I'm not that enthusiastic about how they look myself but with 275s on the back the exhaust tips don't seem like so much of an issue anymore. How much you want for them.

I got lucky and found it on ebay. Total cost coverted to canadian dollars ended up being $274 shipped to my door. It came from a speed shop in Tennessee called TennCore or something... guy has alot of stuff on ebay. Only $15 US shipping. He marked the box which was as big as my coffee table as just a muffler worth $20 so I only paid taxes on that, no duty and through UPS even.

If you guys do get things shipped from the states I recommend you ask for it to be shipped USPS and never UPS. UPS will charge you ridiculously on brokerage fees... if you do get something shipped to you by UPS and the brokerage fee is a ridiculous amount you can deny the parcel at your door and say you'll pay the duty/taxes and get the waybill from them and pay it at your local import/tax office or whatever it's called. I confirmed this with a UPS representitive who tried telling me I'd have to goto the port it was imported through to pay the taxes in person which is total . Most cities have some kinda office you can get it taken care of. There are sometimes also private brokerages you can goto for this service where it will be cheaper also.

What are the exhaust tips like? Are they the 3" tubes or just small chromed tips? I have been tossing the idea around to get a set of tubes. What are ya selling them for?

So how does this work rega? You just tell them to send the package to your local duty/tax office or something then go pick it up and pay duty with no brokerage fee?

you deny the package at your door... say you'll be picking it up at their local depot or whatever. If you can get the waybill from the delivery man, altho I think you'll have to goto the UPS depot to get it, then take it to your local duty/tax(not sure on the name) office and pay the duty and/or taxes there and take the payed bill back to UPS and collect your package.
