how do i find out what cam i have?
Unfortunatly, there is no easy way, unless you have a dial indicator gauge. You would have to take the valve cover off and setup the gauge so it would measure the lift of the cam. You could probably take the measurement off the pushrod and then multiply it by 1.5 to get total valve lift. You wouldn't be able to calculate the duration of the cam this way, but with the lift total, you should be able to at least get a ballpark figure for it. You could pull the cam out to see if there are any part number stampings on it, but if you plan to do that, probably alot easier to buy a new cam to throw in, and being sure of what it is, rather than go by a 'guesstimate'
How does the car idle? It could be there is a vacuum leak somewhere which is causing the poor idle and not the cam.
