one thing you might try is to adjust the tv(deten) cable. had every thing rebuilt and a metro could have beat the thing. I set the tv cable according to the factroy shop manual and nothing, then the guy who rebuilt the trans said that is just a base adjustment and simply shortened the cable even more and now what a differance. He said you could make the tire squeal during every shift by adjusting that cable. hope yours is as easy as just adjusting the cable. good luck

tv cable? i dont think i have one i have a th350 tranny and i think it only gots a kick down cable. mine is not hooked up the person that installed the tranny installed a kick down wire that was to short and could not connected it to the carb so he left it hanging around and it melted most of the plastic from the headers. its still connect to the tranny but just sitting in my engine bay? could that have anything to do with it?

i would certainly get the right cable and hook it up. might try looking at a book and see if it does have a deten cable it does control you shifting points and downshifting unless it is a electronic transmission.Does it up and down shift allright? only other thing that would effect the power of the car would be timing. let me know what you find out

tv and the vaccuum hookup on the trans can be left off, they're used for part throttle only
