figures I get a speeding ticket

85 in a 60... already booked a court date 5 min after i got hte ticket...

complete bull****...

driving down a street (that turns into a valley)... everybody around me is going faster than me... there's some cars turning ahead of me... keeping my eyes on them, wasn't really looking at my speedo....

i pull up to the top of the hill... was driving pretty slow at that point... get in the left lane... suddenly i see a cop and he's walking to a van in the centre lane... then he sees me, and he points at me and he's like "you!!!! PULL OVER HERE".... i'm like what the hell did i do...

guy doesn't show me the radar or anything... just says "i caught u doing 85 in a 60.... show me your driver's license and stuff".... went to his car immediately after that... wrote a ticket.... came bac, handed it to me, and walked away didn't say a thing!

anyway... i think they're just discriminating about a young guy in a sports car... on top of that i have my defense of "i was driving down a hill and i did not pay attention to my speed because everybody else was driving the same, and there were cars turning towards me ahead of me, so i thought it was safer to keep my eyes on them then look down at my speedo"... hell, i didn't even know how fast i was going!!!!

That's not a defence... hope you come up with something better.

But I've been the victim of "profiling" more than once... so I feel the pain.

Yeap Jay is right Alex. By admitting you had no idea how fast you were going you leave yourself open to a Careless Driving charge too. What ever you do dont' say that!!!

What happened to the blond chauffeur?
I think you got rid of her a little too soon.

No man.
No cops in my family, but I had a twin brother who was separated from me at the orphanage. Never located him.
If it was me pullin' you over I'd save the ticket and take your car away... lol.... at least threaten you you a bit...

BTW: Jay is correct. Come up with better response.
Long time ago I got hit with a Careless driving ticket.
Cop was a crook and a liar. Eight months later in court he made up a wicked story about all the stuff I was doing on the road.... speeding/cut him off/ tailgated a car etc.. . Unbelievable.
Anyways, I lost in court but it was a good lesson.
Insurance co. never noticed so I just paid the fine... but that was the last time. I fight every ticket tooth & nail.
Live & learn.

Good luck in court. Bring the girlfreind... maybe the cop has a soft spot?

Ron............

Are you serious about the twin brother? Because I swear this guy looked just like you!!! (i'm not playing around! i thought it was a joke at first!)

Okay, in that case, any suggestions on what I should say? Like I said, the story is pretty simple. I'm driving down the road... It turns into a valley so I suppose that's why my car sped up. I didn't really look at the speedo because there was too much happening on the road... there were cars making a left toward me, etc... I get to the top of the hill, I was in the centre lane of a 3 lane road... there was a minivan infront of me... so I changed lanes to the left lane as I was driving like 5 km/h at this point.

I saw a cop all of a sudden come out onto the street, and I was still hidden by the van... it seemed like he was walking toward another car, but as soon as I peered fully infront of the van he just looks at me... has this surprised look on his face, and walks to me instead, and directs me to pull over...

Anyhow... he just says "I caught you doing 85 in a 60".... "driver's license, insurance and registration"... Never says a word after that... Goes to his car... writes a ticket... comes back to me... doesn't say anything else... just hands me the ticket.

I found it interesting that he checked off "no witnesses" yet my buddy was in the passenger seat...

Anyhow... I need ideas on how to get off since you say mine suck.... Sorry Ron but the blonde is gone... I got a red head here and a brunette there now... but they're no good :P

I guess your clutch is working again.
I got a ticket for 87 in a 60 on lakeshore a few months back. I did't bother with the courts and went directly to see the prosecutor. She put it down to 15 over and the fine was 45 bucks. No court, no more wasted time.

Come up with a good excuse I>E> you never go that route and were lost and late for an exam. Admit you were wrong and they'll chop it down.

Easy,
Your passenger won't be a credible witness.
Has to be someone who is unbiased, a bystander for instance.
At that, it would have to be a professional such as a cop or traffic engineer to be convincing in court on your behalf. Someone who knows/understands traffic issues.

All your friend could do is go to court and say: "I sat there next to the driver and never took my eye off the speedometer, he never once went over 60". Then the judge is gonna laugh him out of court.

Sorry... that's how it works, like it or not.

Ron........

Wait and see what happens...

I hired Points... who I was told would get me off the hook no problem, but the guy who represented me was very unprofessional and I ended up with the full amount of the ticket.

There are no sure things in court. Good luck.

BTW.... since I've been driving the delta I haven't been pulled over a single time and I wouldn't say my driving habbits have changed. I can tell you for a fact that driving a flashy car will get you pulled over. My plan is to keep a low profile daily driver and take the camaro out for fun occasionally.

So what kind of money he charge for these things?
Do we mortgage the house or just sell the car?
