Newbie help

hey guys,

I had a 1985 Firebird 2.8l V6 but fregen gm 6cyl are sheer garbage and it spun a bearing

its not bad, but its gone now and i bought my self a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta. its a 305 (lg4) i have a few typical newbie question that i thought u guys might be nice enough to help me out with

*what transmission is in my car? the consol goes like so:1,2,D, OD not sure i think 200r?

*is a 350 a direct no bs bolt up to this transmission?
- i know it is, but as far as hp goes whats the max on my transmission

*Where can i get, if anyone know any IROC-Z GFX and or Z28 Front Bumper with lip.

*On Berlinetta's, i think its an option, i have a rotating Radio/Cassette player consol, this is all fine and good, but i want to install a system in my car, i want to keep this setup because i know its a rare option i think and it looks sick however i want CD player, and ideas?

*I know 305's have got decent low end power, but when i bring my car up speed, there is no consistent top end power, any way i can bolt on a decent carb/intake setup to help that?

and BTW:

are there any GTA based F-body or Camaro w.e clubs local to here? any who any who is willing to help out a young guy entering the F-body scene add me on msn if u like

You have a 700R4 aka 4spd auto

Yupper... yer max horsepower will only depend on your wallet. For the tranny in stock form it's not going to handle more than 300lb-ft for very long(lots of people get away with much more for a short period of time or they can be built up quite a bit to handle much more power).

A performer intake and carb and better exhaust will really help with the higher rpms. Headers and a larger catback will help even more so(still its the heads/cam combo in these cars thats never going to allow much power output).

There's the Toronto F-body club, TFBM or something like, also Kitchener/Waterloo F-body club... There's lots of clubs and lots of peep always willing to help. Welcome to the board!

I know a few people with over 300 000 on GM 6 cylinders, one guy who is a member on this board just sold his 87 firebird with a 2.8, it had over 300 000 on it.I have some Iroc rocker ground effects for sale, no door pieces though.

Do the exhaust first.

Get headers, some kind of 3" catback system like Hooker and get a highflow cat. There should be a noticable power increase with all of that; also, the motor will work better at high rpm.
