Looking for Mech. Speedo VSS (Behind Cluster)

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a vehicle speed sensor and buffer assemebly (little yellow box with a few wires to VSS) that mounts to the back of the instrument cluster. These were used on all TBI engines thru 1992, all computer-controlled-carbureted engines, and on 1985-1989 TPI engines. I am usure of the part number.

Anyone got an old cluster with this on it?

Thanks
Neil

I don't think the 85-89 had the VSS.

All cars with mech speedo's have them. I now have a few spares.

I found my problem, when I pulled the TPI and engine harness, the VSS ground got removed as it grounded through the engine harness to under the hood (all the way from the guage cluster!). After a alot of friggin and head scatching I got my cruise working again after simply regrounding the VSS at the connector near the old ECM where it tied to the engine harness. Nothing wrong with the old stuff after all. It was the only thing I didn't check on the list of things to check in the manual, seemed too obvious first time around. Always that way...
