B&M shifters

I have an 87 GTA, which models of B&M shifters can be used without a whole lot of customising.
Is there a model that fits perfect for my car that any of you are using?
I was looking at BMM-80692 on Summitracing, looks like it would work on the camaro style with the shifter plate that unscrews, however Im not sure for the GTA.

I don't know what the specific differences are (if any) between the Pontiac and the Chevy consoles/shift plates are (up until you asked the question, I always assumed the shift plates were the same).

Hurst lists no shifters as being "custom fit" for a 3rd Gen Firebird, but does have a couple for the 3rd Gen Camaro.

B&M- I haven't got time to do the research- here:

On the summit site, click on the item. Near the bottom, just before the paragraph description, it says CHECK YOUR APPLICATION, click on it, and it gives you a list of what it fits. Both the bird and camaro are on there, however it says, WILL NOT WORK ON FORMULA, dont know why that is, possibly different console?

Has anyone figured out why they wouldn't work on a Formula? I have a 91 Formula and want a aftermarket shifter but can't seem to find one. Thanks

Re: B&M shifters

i use to have the megashifter( i beleive that is the model) for the z28, i hated that thing, sometimes it would work great, other times it was the hardest piece of crap to shift with. I tried everything to make it work right, nothing helped. I was told it was the way i had the cable ran, didnt matter which way i ran the cable, it still was hard as hell to shift with.
