My speedo goes to 140 and i topped the car out at 5,000rpm in fifth once so there is no governer that i know of on my car

My car cost about the same to fill.. about 25 bux..
My speedo goes up to 185km/h.. I had it at 185 about twice. At a lower RPM than usall. I put normal gas in also.
I dunno how ur speedo goes up to that high.. I want one that goes up that high damnit!

My speedo tops out at 240KM/h as well...I think all the IROC got that. Some Z28 I believe are less...like 180 or something.

Yes there is a rev limiter...I know this for a fact as I've been there before. As for speed governor, I'm not sure... haven't hit it yet, so let's just say that it's higher than most speeds you'll ever do at lease on Ontario roads

And $25 to $35 to fill up is normal depending on how low the tank is and what octane you're using.

my Iroc has a 110mph speedo, I think it depended on what engine/tranny combo you got. For instance the 5.7's got the 240,and I believe that some LB9's with the 5 speed got it. I think if you do a search on the History board you can get some better info.

my 2 cents

Hello 89rock, welcome to the board.

I have an LB9 5-speed which is what you have if you have a 1LE with a factory stick (1LEs came in L98/auto variants as well). I took mine up to the red in 4th once but had to shut it down due to shakes from the drive-shaft (I'll be picking up an aluminum unit this spring).
My speedo reads 240kms and I have never ran into a speed limiter. Can't say I've hit a rev limiter either. My tank is baffled and surprisingly takes 55 liters -- this is unusual because the baffled tanks are configured for about 45 liters. My gas mileage was WAYYY bad but I had two totalled injectors. I replaced these and the mileage got civilized again, about 15 in town and 21 on the hiway which is pretty poor. My Formula is G92 optioned with 3.42 gears which means 2500rpm @ 120k. Ouch.

BTW: if you have a 1LE car then this is something you want to clearly document and keep alongside the title of your car. 1LEs are already picking up heat by collectors. The good news is the 1LE is hot, the bad news is it is worth more the closer to stock it remains (or is restored). For what it's worth, if I had a 1LE car I would be restoring it to original and watching my investment increase in value up... up... up...

my 2 cents worth,
RP.

Curious, what is this about "Can only go to 220-230 before the 3/4 throttle d-shift sleeve.." ??? Is this short for "down-shift" ???

Some cars will not hold fourth gear (overdrive) when at wide open throttle. they down shift into third which limits top speed. I remember reading that only the cars equipped with Z-rated tires from GM had the 4rth gear/WOT capability.

Yet another reason why I don't like automatics.

Hummm...this happened to me last summer... had her at WOT ... speedo was saying 220 kph.... then she went down into 3rd... let off on the gas and she slipped back into 4th (OD) ... scared the crap outta me!! So I let her drop back to around 120K.. hehehe

I have the 5.7L auto tranny... I think that maybe a shift kit, new servos/boost valves will help this...

At 120Kph she is at around 2300-2500 rpms. This of course is without any major tune-up...I basically bought the car last summer and drove it everyday like I stole it! ... having way too much fun to do maintenance. This summer I will be doing a complete tune-up and adding some small mods... should run better for me ... I hope.
