Tune Up
Hey, just want a few opinions on doin a tune-up here. Just kinda curious what parts to buy here. Anyone have any ideas for me as far as:
wires
plugs
cap, n rotor
Just wanna know if anyone has any preferences, which brands are better than others, what you guys would do.

Wires, can't go wrong with the Accel 8mm Universal fits...for plugs, I've found the Delco's are as good as any other ones out there....C&R I've yet to do. Hope that helps a little...:lala:

i just go the MSD HEI cap and rotor. they seem quite nice and work well. as far as spark plug wires everything i had read says that MSD Super Conducters are the best...they have the lowest resistance. use regular ac delco plugs...they are best, plus not expensive. fancy plugs do nothing except cost money.
good luck
by the way i think ac delco plugs are cheapest at walmart

Their is nothing special about the MSD tune-up parts other than the little sticker they come with and the cost. I like Ac Delco parts because they are good quality, they are inexpensive, and if they fail, they have a warrenty. The MSD SC wires are the shiznit however. They are worth the $$. If your car has the small cap distributor, I'd recommend getting a new coil as well.
When I do a tune-up I do.......
Fuel Filter
PCV valve
Plugs
Wires
Cap
Rotor
Clean the K&N
GM Top End Cleaner
Clean Battery Terminals
Grease Ignition Module

Clean and replace the cooling grease on the ignition module. When it dries up the result is a cooked module. I believe it's known as Lithium Grease. I can't remember what the "Industry" name for it is.

Ya go with "Acceld Z" suggestions, its good to change/service all those little things on a regular basis. As far as wires go all I can say is DO NOT go with the delco's. Dont ask me why but about two years ago in a mental lapse I purchased a set because my buddy got them for me at a good price. They do not stand up to any heat at all. They melt like an m&m in a little kids hand on a hot summer day!!! And thats even when they are not even close to your headers/exhause mainifolds!
Go with the Accel 8mm Universal fits as suggested above, they are nothing really all that special, but the will do the trick and are relatively inexpensive.

As far as the cap and rotor, I would strongly suggest you save your money on the MSD stuff and get the Wells Gold edition from Crappy Tire instead. I compared the two side by side, as I had the Wells and replaced it with the MSD, and I could not tell the difference between the two. Almost looks identical. So don't waste your money on that.
