TPI components

Does anyone have any stock TPI components that they replaced with performance parts. I am doing a Carb-to-TPI swap very soon, and would like to know if anyone has parts for less than what I am goin to be paying for at P.A. Im gettin a complete set-up for 1200cdn. Is that a good price?

Hmmm... 1200 seems like a lot.. are you getting wiring and ECM as well? If so, that should be a decent price.. All I have is a new Aluminum Plenum Extension... sorry

Make sure you get all the sensors as well. Also, try to get the exhaust manifolds (assuming you aren't going to use headers) as this will have the bung for the O2 sensor.

In case you haven't inventoried these already in your package, you will need:

- a coolant temperature sensor (CTS).
- knock sensor.
- O2 sensor.
- air temp sensor
- throttle position and idle air sensors should come with the throttle body, if not better make sure you have them.
- depending on year either the MAF setup or speed density MAP setup.
- the charcoal canisters and fuel return plumbing, without this stuff the ECM will foul up on purge cycle -- assuming you want to run in closed loop.
- watch out for newer TPI/ECMs that have the VATS setup -- it can be a pain to work around.
- you can go without the A.I.R. system but then the system will be reporting err codes and doing stupid things like altering the duty cycle, running in open loop makes this go away but then you lose out on some of the 'tuneable potential' for the TPI.
- vehicle speed sensor or VSS, not mandatory but the ECM does use it for shifting on autos and calculation of air/fuel ratios.
- fuel pump and pressurized lines, not sure if the carb'd setup will handle the high fuel pressures of the TPI ?

Well, I'm sure you've already been through all this. Just trying to help.

good luck,
RP.
