I've got to root through my box of receipts to find the place. In the meantime, PM me your email and I'll send you the highest res pic I have of it. It'll be in black but I'm thinking his site could probably convert it to any color you'd like, IIRC. The ones on my car and center caps are actually a dark grey metallic to match the stock lettering

I last went in 2005, but life has slowed down so I can get away. Not enough time to get either 3rd Gen ready, so guess I'll be driving the Buick (But the XM radio is sure nice!)

Well keep your fingers crossed, I towed the car over to a Carb & Ignition shop to get her going. The shop has been in business since '41, the founder is still working and his son runs the place.

I assembled the motor this weekend. But then couldn't do jack squat Sunday because of family auto issues.

Re: FINAL ROLLCALL!!!
Well, depressing news. My Formy will not be making it's debut. The engine has no compression on cylinders 2 & 4........ so engine #3 is a bust. No more used engines for me.
Unfortunately I am going to have to sell a couple of my cars to pay for a crate engine. I am selling a '68 GTO and my newest acquisition, '86 Trans Am. I am coming to the 'Fest riding along with 1MeanZ and his crew. I will have some pictures with me and more info so if anyone is interested.

Crate engines are typically overpriced for what you get, maybe have a shortblock built instead

Re: FINAL ROLLCALL!!!
Pete is in a tight spot. This is his only car currently, and he is on bad used engine #3. He has limited tools, limited time, limited experience and no roof to work under or workbench to work on(unless you count the truck bed of an old F250). That all will change in the near future, but right now this is his reality. He needs something straight forward with a warranty to get the car going. I know you don't know the situation, but I can assure you, now is not the time to start piecing together a custom build of any kind.
Also, judging from my experience last time I spec'd out building an engine for a guy, a wise choice in crate engines can be a bargain. Especially in this case. We have no idea whats actually wrong in the motor he has. It won't even blow your thumb off the plug hole when you crank it over. The $600 he paid for the engine, plus new parts, machine work, assembly labor, etc can easily balloon over 1500-2k. At that point crate engines with warranties start looking pretty tempting.
I know you probably know all of this already and I don't mean to preach a sermon on here. I've been helping Pete as much as I possibly can and his situation breaks my heart. I'm giving him the wisest council I know to give, and as such I feel compelled to respond when well-meaning people jump in and tell him to do the opposite of what I'm telling him because they don't know the situation. With 3 bad attempts at used engines under his belt and no other car to drive, he needs 100% victory. A crate engine is the fastest and best way to get there.

Ughhhh......blew my radiator tonight when I took it to the carwash. Isn't it fun when you should be spending the Friday before thirdgen fest detailing but instead you spend it switching out radiators. Just glad it didn't happen on the way there..still sucks

Re: FINAL ROLLCALL!!!
Short blocks or complete custom engine assembly works for guys like you and I because we have tools, a place to work and the knowledge and experience to do the work. Our labor is free. It's also common for us to underestimate how difficult it is for someone to do what we do, when they have no experience with engines. For me it would be nothing to throw rings/rods/mains/valvejob at this engine and be back in action in a couple weeks. I have valve and seat grinding equipment for crying out loud, thats hardly true for regular car guys like Pete. I'm tempted to jump in this knee deep and build a motor, but with my current life situations and Chazman's T5 swap I just don't have the bandwidth or the space right now.

The local JY here will run the engine on their home made stand for an extra 50 bucks before you buy it. You also get a 30 day warranty if it runs...if you don't ask them to run it, no warranty, no returns...

Re: FINAL ROLLCALL!!!
I totally understand what you're saying, been there and done that! I rebuilt and assembled an entire engine in a 5x5 shed once during the winter! Before I'd jump right in the crate engine bandwagon though, I'd pull a head off first. If there's a piston still in there, it's probably a bent valve or bad cam lobe.

We have pulled the valve covers and re-set the lash on all the valves, but obviously we still have a problem. If there was an air compressor on-site I'd do a leakdown test and we'd know exactly where the blowby is going.

Had a great time at Third Gen Fest, Thanks 1MeanZ for letting me ride along. I have been thinking on what we discussed about the other car and mine, I will stick it out with mine. Now if I could only get my other 2 sold we can get the setup we discussed. Thanks for all your help and encouragement.
