Fuel Pressure

I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and guage. What is the best way to set this??Is it best to disconnect the vacuum to it.What pressure for general every day driving?
Is it a good idea to put a locknut under the adjuster screw so that it cant unwind itself?

cheers

Disconnect and plug the vaccum. Attach the FP gauge to the schrader valve and adj. accordingly. I odn't know what type of AFPR you have, but if it turns too easily ie. fingertips (never herd of that problem), then yes, a locknut is in order.

I don't know what motor you have, but I believe stock FP is 42psi. If you are looking for gains in power (not caring about MPG) I would say try 44-45 on a 305 and maybe 45-46 on a 350. Just jacking it way up is defiently not the answer... I tried 50psi on my 350 based on the power charts they have for FP and it made my car slower. It's different for everybody so try between 44-46 and see what happens.
