86 Iroc

I just picked up a running 86 IROC. It was a rear ender, so I planned to use it as a parts only car. I am planning on dropping everything into my 85 Camaro. I have done the search and read most of the postings on swapping the TPI 305 for a 350. My real question is that I plan to do a stock cammed 383 for it. If I change the chip, the knock sensor and go to the #22 injectors, should it be ok? I am not looking for a 11 second car here, just something with some low end ***** that is fun to drive and will not suck the tank dry each day.

Thanks guys...

I went from a stock 305 long block to a 355 with a fairly mild cam(216 @ .050/.454 lift hydraulic) and a set of AFR 190's. I swapped everything over but switched to ADS 24lb injectors. I left the stock computer and the car ran great. Maybe a little rich but it had the stock drivabilty and made about 330 horse. You shouldn't have any problems.

The 22# injectors would be fine for a moderate 350/355 but on an 11sec IROC you'll need more flow. Also, a rule of thumb for max HP from a set of injectors is:
HP=RatedFlow * 8 / 0.5, assumes a BSFC of 0.5 for TPI.

I have a flow number table on my site for a rough guide. There are some equations that will allow you to calc the HP necessary for 11s if you know the weight of your IROC.

He said he wasn't looking for 11's just a car with alot of low-end power. With a TPI intake a 383 would run out of steam at around 4700-5000. 22lb inj should feed this ting no problem.

11 seconds would be a different ball game.
