EGR questions - SD vs MAF

Is there a difference between the Speed Density EGR and the MAF EGR? My 87 EGR has a temp diagnostic switch, and my manual shows the correct ECM pin for the wire.
However it appears, that I am either not seeing it in the '730 ECM pin out (which is entirely possible as I have been known to miss obvious things ) or the '730 does not use this function.

So, do I need to buy a 90 - 92 EGR? Or will my 87 style EGR work ok with a Speed Desity set up?

The 7730 uses other methods to find out if the EGR valve is working or not, so you can just toss the diag. switch and use your current valve.
