Best way to install Autometer FP guage?
On the fuel rail schrader valve. I just got my Autometer Sport Comp 0-60 fuel pressure gage. Good quality unit IMO. Just that it came with no mounting hardware. Do I need to take the Schrader valve fitting out completely, and come up with an adaptor? Or do they make a fitting that will go from the scrader to the gage? (male 1/8" NPT)
There probably is more than one way to install this. I imagine I would need a 90' adaptor.
TIA

yes there are 90 degree adaptors out there you can use to mount your gauge. try heading to your local hardware store and see what you can come up with. make sure that it canhandle the pressure. you will need ot take out the valve stem inside the shrader valve. the FPR should have come with a tool to do this. the gauge may be an AN fitting so try the fitting out berfore you buy it. if all esle fails then try contacting autometer, hypertech, or crane cams and ask if they have just the fitting to sell you

The fuel rail is 1/4" flare, and yes you have to decore the valve. As you already noticed, the sender is 1/8 NPT. Getting from 1/4" flare to 1/8" NPT is gravy, you can buy an adapter for $0.50 at any hardware store to do that.
I used 1/4" tube that i flared and bent to suit my needs to hook up my sender. I made a 270' loop, drawn sideways and slightly flattened on itself to locate my sender completely hidden under the plenum. You can find pics of how i did this on my webpage (in sig)

Thanks for the replies. I kind of figured I would have to take the valve stem out of the Schrader valve, if I were to use it. I was thinking of taking it out totally, then I would need a male 1/8"NPT on one end, with a female 1/8"NPT on the other, preferrable in a 90' elbow. Not really sure if they make one. My guage came with nothing, has a male 1/8" NPT end on it. Very cool guage however.
I'm kind of thinking about going to some local shops to see what I can find. I hate to order something and find out it don't work. I don't want to use any hoses, just hard tubing, short as possible. I allready scabbed up some brass 1/8"NPT fittings from work, but came up with 4 connections. Like to trim that down.

I bought everything i needed to put mine in for under $20 at home depot, including 10' of 1/4" brass tube, tubing bender set (the cheap spring kind), and a basic flare tool, as well as flare nuts and the NPT - flare adapter. To get from the male NPT sender, to the typically male NPT-flare adapter you just use an NPT sleeve.
Thats it, exactly 4 fittings and the tube are all that it takes, and the tools to make the tube.

I got tired of trying to find the right hardware.... so I went the expensive route... I had been to every hardware store and speed shop in my area looking for the right hardware.
I bought the dumb Accel guage. Used the 90 degree elbow from it and put the crappy guage on a shelf in the garage. The sender for the 100 psi electric guage screws right into it, no problems, job done.
My previous experience with the Accel guage itself was a disaster... it leaked internally and I had to rip it out to avoid an engine fire, otherwise I'd be dumb enuf to rig up a tee and have both.

I have one of those accel fuel pressure guages as well. When i tried to put it on, the cheap 90 degree adapter i got from the hardware store broke off in the fuel rail when i was tightening it down. I had a lot of fun getting that thing out......
