TPI manifold, cold air induction questions
TPI manifold, cold air induction questions
Is there any difference in the TPI manifolds between a corvette and a camaro? If so is it worth swapping them? I saw a ZR-1 engine and it looked like it would make a huge difference if you put it's intake/manifold on a camaro, is this possible, or is it even a TPI unit? if so, could you ever find one, and for a reasonable price?
Also, would a home made cold air induction system really add that much power?
Thanks for any responses.

There is no difference perfomance wise between vette and f-body TPI. The only differences were cosmestic, the vette being a more rough cast.
As for a homemade cold air induction, a couple of fast cars have already established on the dyno that the stock TPI airbox is superior or equal to something bigger but following a longer path.

Ahh yes, hes talking about the ZR1 though. A vette TPI is the same as a F-body EXCEPT that the Vette has an external EGR system.
A ZR1 is a different beast all together. It has quad over head cams, 16 fuel injectors (2 per cylinder), and many other differences. Think of it as basically double a regular TPI unit. I would assume that it would not even bolt up to a pushrod type engine either due to the special over head cam 16 valve heads.
