I have a 305 TPI with an automatic trans. I get about 13-15 mpg when driving around town with pretty much no highway driving. But the strange part comes when I do only highway driving I get 25-27 mpg. Does this sound right, I would think I should be able to get close to 20 driving around town. My mods are in my signature. Give me some ideas of what it could be.

 

Depends on how hard you put your foot in it really. If i'm suprised at anything it's how good your mileage is on the highway. It might mean your running a little rich at low engine speeds, but it sounds about right for around town mileage to me.

 

Thats about right for a 305 and 2:73 rear. Be happy you are getting good milage.

 

Your EPA ratings are 17/25...I would expect your car to get 15-16 around town under normal driving. To me, it sounds just right if you're booting it a little

I can't wait to take my Formula on a long trip and see what the 273s can do. The scary thing is, on a trip to Boston my Grand Am got 27, but my Z28 with that sweet 6 speed got 28!!!

Anyone think I can get 29 with the Formie?? LOL...I'll be thrilled if I get your highway mileage with it.
