What injector # is too big for stock 5.7

I need to replace my injectors on my 87 gta 5.7 and I was wondering if the #24 injectors would be ok to install. It is a stock motor with the only mod being a k&n filter and screens removed from the maf. any information would be helpful. Jim

The stock ECM is supposed to be able to compensate for up to a 15% bigger injector. So yes a 24 lb. injector will be fine.

The ECM does not "compensate" for a larger injector. The only was to change the injector size is to reprogram the "injector constant" inside the prom.
With no others mods other then a K&N air filter changing from 22lb to 24lb injectors is a waste of time and you will see NO increase in power. All that will happen is your gas milage will suffer and you get to smell raw unburnt fuel all the time. Stock TPI's run rich anyway, don't make the situation worse. Take that injector money and get headers and a cat back system, follow up with a cam if there's any money left over.

My injectors are the main problem now, I have 4 of them leaking down. My gas mileage is terrible and it is very hard to start, lots of black smoke after it cranks up.

I can't seem to find a good set of #22 injectors but there are a lot of #24's out there at good prices.

Look for a set of the new Accel injectors. They have part numbers for 21 and 23 lb/hr along with quite a few others. Either of these would work better than 24 lb/hr. I got mine from Rich at Cruzin Performance.

Actually, the answer depends on how much you are going to build up your engine in the future. If you can burn a prom and change the injector constant, then go with the 30 lb/hr. Why? Because they are just a little bit more, will have good resale value and will work on a stock engine (with the injector constant changed).
