Anyone else have this happen to them after filling up with gas?

Does anyone other than me notice that there TPI starts up quicker after filling up at the gas station? My GTA usaully cranks over a little before actually starting up, but when I stop at a gas station and put gas in, the car starts instantly. The GTA also starts up quickly if I let it sit for anything over 3 days.

Does anyone else have this happen to them? Does anyone have an explaination for this?

Mine usually starts the quickest when I ask it if it wants to stomp a Ford. Other than that, no, no difference.

My TPI just starts up faster when it's warm. Maybe you have a leaky charcoal canister solenoid or something and when you open the gas cap it bleeds off the pressure.

I don't notice any difference when I start up after filling with gas. I do notice my exhaust echoes better though under the gas station cover

would bad injectors cause a rough idle and engine shake?

Sure can. How many miles are on those injectors? My car did this and hardly ran down the road at all. I was lucky to get it home. Use an ohmmeter and check the resistance of your injectors. I forgot what they are supposed to be. That's what I did, and mine were bad. Threw in a new set and the car fired right up nice and smooth. Hope this helps. Good luck.

the injectors have 148,000 on them, but the car ran smooth as hell until i put the new motor in, that was at 145,000.

wow, thats kinda halirious!
I have a little suspicion that maybe when you take off your gas cap, your gas tank vents.(sometimes you hear that hissing noise)
maybe it could have to do with that? maybe your purge solenoidfor the tank vent?
just a pathetic guess!

bigals87z28, i think thats because wen you come to a stop,
all or most of the gas goes to the front of the tank, and same when you accellerate the gas goes to the back of the tank. its just because the float goes up and down in the tank. its typical, dont worry bout it.

The only thing I notice when I fill up is that my wallet gets lighter.
Dual tanks, takes about $35 to fill the damn thing. And that's
only good for a day or so, I have a lead foot.

Yeah my when I take the gas cap off, it releases a ton of pressure, hisses fairly loud. When I put the gas cap back on and start the car, it starts great! Could one of these solenoids be causing my problem?

The hissing sound is air rushing into the tank, not out of it. Late TPI systems had an unvented system (EPA bs) that had a vacuum line to the cannister to suck gas fumes into the engine. There is, or should be, relief solenoid controlled by the ECM. Check for proper operation. Hey bigal, you probably lose an 8th to a 1/4 tank when you slam on brakes and cause fuel to dam up on front side of tank and change float level just as it dams up to rear of tank when you kick it.

How do I check for proper operation of the relief solenoid?

Yeah, when ever I floor it the gas goes up!. But thats cause the gas goes to the back of the tank. When I press on the brake the gas goes down.
So you know what my car sayin. Keep the pedal to the metal:rockon:

My car does the same thing also. Starts right up after a fill up, and first thing in the morning. Any other time I have to crank it over a bit before it starts. Is this relief solenoid on top of the charcol canister? Is there a way to test it?

just to add my .02 cents i had the same exact problem
could be a leaking pressure regulater
pull the vac hose off if there is any fluid in the hose it is bad replace it the diaphram in the regulater is leaking if this is the problem now is the time to install a adjustable regulater
(not the b&m it is poopy)

i replaced mine and whala fired right up and has not missed a beat since
