correct Idle and Tps settings??

I have a question. I recently purchased another 91 Z motor with the speed density setup. The originally setting for the idle has been altered and the tps is the non adjustable one. Where can I find a voltage reference for the tps sensor? and does anyone know what the idle should be close to? the timing is set at 8 deg. initial, about 35 deg at 3000rpm if that may have anything to do with it.... and finally, does anyone happen to know if I can use my tpi setup on my 406 motor Im working on???? Thanks in advance

^^ setting tps

Idle should be about 1,100 at start up on a cold morning, it'll settle to about 700, then about 500-600 in gear.

yes it will FIT on a 406, but will it *WORK*? that depends on what you want. You'll get monster torque, then run out of breath at about 3,000 rpms

I'd say you'll hate it if you're looking for any real performance, you just can't breath with a stock 305, even the tpi from a SD 350 was still designed for a 305.

The setup is coming off a 350. And I am probably going to put the bigger throttle body, runners, etc. You still think it wouldnt be able to breathe with that? Id hate to have to go with a carb or something.....I wanted it to look semi-stock anyway....ANyone have any info on the tps settings? Thanks for the info dude...

On a 406 a fully modified TPI (LTR) setup is STILL small, You're in the miniram/superram/lt1/t-ram/stealth ram stage
406's sure need to breath

Would a Hogged out LT1 intake work on it? What kind of price am I looking at for an intake to work? or should I just put a carb on it?

Hey tpi_roc, how do I contact Ed Write? KYL98, you won't have to "hogout" the LT1 to hold on. It'll give you all the boost you want without it.

Need to change chip to compensate for cam and recently installed Motorcraft SHO 24lb injectors. Too little vacuum, to much gas. Running rich.

Will the LT1 intake bolt up to aftermarket heads???? Im putting in a comp cams .488/.495 112 sep, and have vortec heads on it now....with 1.6 rockers. Ill probably put in some bigger injectors if needed and was going to use the TPI setup with aftermarket runners, base, and polished and hogged out plenum. Will the LT1 intake make enough torque and let the motor breathe....???
