Help me build 327 TPI

I want to build a 327 and put my TPI on it. I know it would suffer from my stock unit, so what should I go with mini ram, stealth ram? I would be at 10:1 compression, slightly larger than stock L79 cam. 222*@.050 and .447"lift. What else should I do or not do. I would probably also get a TPIS level 5 PROM, either that or learn how to do my own. I know this is a little vague, but I am just at the stage of working all the bugs out of this plan. Thanks for the help.

well, there's really no advantage to using a 327 over a 350 except that it sounds cool saying "327". That being said, I'd strongly reccomend doing a roller cam retrofit so that you can get a cam that will actually work well with a TPI-style system. You're going to need to decide before you build what rpm range you want your power in. Due to the stort stroke and big bore, your 327 is going to work best at high rpms, which means a stealthram or miniram, great heads and a good high lift roller cam.

I was thinking about this same thing. I can get my hands on a complete 327. Needs rebuilt. The only problems that i saw were that there wasnt a place tor the acces brackets. (AC, Powersteering, ect...) Im sure that i could make something or order something though. Will 350 TPI parts fit on a 327???

Those heads are what's known as "camel hump" heads if the 327 was one of the high horsepower variants and not one of the 200hp 2bbl ones. Anyway, the camel hump heads flowed great for a 60s head. They outflow L98 heads even, but compared to any aftermarket or vortec head, they're junk. They're also prone to detonation because of their old-school combustion chamber design. I've got a set of 461s on my IROC and I hate them. I still haven't figured out how to mount my a/c compressor.

A 327 is better suited for revs and IMO that L79 cam is anemic. As Jim85IROC, you should look to something else like a miniram or a stealthram. You can port the hell out of it and buy all the overprice "high-flow" runners out there and your TPI system still won't make power up top anyway you cut it.

Of course i'm assuming you want to make some power

Well camaro6spd, unless he feels comfortable drilling a hold in cast aluminium for his distributor....which I know I don't want to drill cast aluminium...that intake is O. U. T. out
