Aluminum Or cast, What Do you guys like to use as far as bits ?

Ive already gone through Two Carbide Cutters And Ive got My base only about Half siamsed. Is there anything that works better ?

These guys are about 20 bucks a pop, Im gonna be over the price of a SR by the time im done if I keep this up ( assuming i had to pay for them.. )

What about for chopping up cast, its alot harder than the Ally I playing with now.

I used a carbide bit on my heads,and my intake.Plus I bought one of those porting kits with the sandpaper rolls.A good carbide bit should last a long time if you're grinding aluminum.If the bit is made for cast,then aluminum will build up in in the grooves and you'll have to keep cleaning it out.I usually spray a little WD40 on the bit when grinding aluminum.......

I siamesed my entire intake with 1 single carbide burr (correct term) and I used synthetic gear oil and constantly dipped the bit in there, port, dip, port, dip, port, dip. This will keep things lubricated and temps down, the bit will last for a very long time like this. And make sure you're using open cutting bits on the aluminum as mentioned above.

 

I actually made an amazing discovery at a local hardwhare store. The bits look like carbide but they were
$3 each. They do not clog and they last just as long as the carbide I was using. They came in lots of differant shapes too. I bought $30 worth just in case they quit selling them. I will try to get you some info or a pic,

I didnt lubricate mine at all, I imagine I burnt them up.
