I have an 1987 Trans-AM TPI 305, I took My A/C and Smog pump totally out of my car, MY question is, Do i need the canister, I think i do b/c that has to do with my Gas and my gas tank pressure correct, or could someone explain to my what my cansiter does?? Also can i take this out of my car?? Its got like a place that sucks in air..I am pretty sure it is part of my smog system..Thanks

You don't need that anymore if you've removed the smog pump. That box just distributes the air from the smog pump to the exhaust manifold AIR ports IIRC. It's been so long since I've had that on my car I can't even remember anymore. LOL

ya take all that crap off. if your smog pump is gone then that stuff should be in the trash too. if you take it off then you will have to plug the holes on your exhaust manifolds. im not sure if you have headers or factory manifolds so i cant tell you how to plug the holes. your canister can go in the trash too if you want. you will have to plug the port on the throttle body where the vacuum line use to go to. the vent line from the tank should not be capped or plugged up. i just never put a vent line in my car when i replaced all the fuel lines.
hey thanks
thanks, I have factory manifold, i am thinking about just taking that little box out which picks up air for now and leave the lines goign to the manifold, as for the cansiter, how does that exactly work
thanks
