Has anyone here drilled Vortec heads for tpi intake?

The GMPP fastburns are drilled for both intakes, an I don't want to spend more $$$ on a tpi vortec intake. Has anyone done it?

Here's a pic that illustrates the problem w/ using a conventional intake on a Vortec head:

Not to mention the TPI base specifically....

GM really didn't give any free aluminum away with the bases.. First time you try to mate a felpro 1205 intake gasket you will see what i mean, the tpi intake is so small the sealing rings on the gasket are visable from the outside of the intake.

Has enough of the Vortec intake base's been used to determine if they flow enough?

Thanks Darrell

I just wanted to add that i've heard of people welding a bunch of extra AL on the top of the intake face to port match to the vortecs after drilling. This is still a very bad idea, as the biggest problem with a TPI intake is the low entry into the head. Sure you can port match the face of it with more meat there, but you can't fix the fact that the TPI base is still pointing at the roof of the intake port. You can barely make a good transition with porting to a stock height intake port, a taller port will just be worse.

There are a few members with them, you'll have to speak to them personally to get first hand experience

Yeah, I figured something would spoil that idea. I guess my choices are, port the L03 heads and remove the swirl, torquer 305's, or rebuilt tpi heads. I guess I need to do some more post searching and see what seems to work for the folks here.
