Make me go faster!

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie, and this is my virgin post. I have an 88' T/A w/ a 305 TPI (LB9). Totally stock, apparently this engine kicks out around 220 HP's. What would all you pro's suggest I start with for easy horsepower and what would be the gain with what you suggest??

i'd say intake and exhaust to get you started
and also tune up the car-spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor . . .

All the free mods are a good start for modificatons along with a good tune up, the tune up being paramount. In case you didn't know the free mods are removing your MAF screens, Throttle Body coolant bypass, advancing your timing and if you are not bound for emissions testing you can remove your AIR pump and gut your catalytic converter. Also drilling a few holes in the bottom of your air cleaner housing may give you some extra air. This may net you about 8-10 horsepower.

I dont recommend advancing timing on the LB9, they're already prone to detonation, with some advanced timing and a disconnected EGR you'll see what I mean.

I'd say headers, Subframe connectors, and prom tuning, this takes care of all the things GM forgot to do from the factory

Thanks for the info. Any particular brand or size of headers you might recommend? How about PROM's? What settings would benefit me the most (to go faster)? Er...what the hell are subframe connectors? I sure appreciate the help!

I just got a set of Headman Headers and Y-pipe from summit and i hear they are pretty good for the money. But most ppl like the SLP headers though they are gonna cost ya. As for proms..from what i have read here you prob wont need one untill you start doin serious mods(i could be wrong) and the chips from like hypertech, jet what have you are basicly junk anyway. Subframe connecters mount under you car and stiffen up the frame a good bit giving you better cornering and i would imagine braking, takeoff and others....thats bout all i can tell ya and i could be wrong on some of that stuff so some one feel free to correct me(im still learning too )
