So tell me... why do u bash that engine anways? It put out 175 hp and 250 ft/lbs of torque at 2800 rmp.... Personally i like the look of it better then the TPI on top of that.... What are your reasons for dislike.... i hear everyone talkin trash about them, then nobody wants to talk about what they dislike... and dont gimme that crap about induction

this is what you want

swapping to a tpi is expensive alot of work and you gain little, simply modifying the stock intake manifold and you can achieve the same airflow as the tpi.

Car: it doesnt really drive right now
Engine: 383
Transmission: 700r4
A friend of mine is trying to make his 84 CFI Vette go fast. He built a 383 to go underneath it and...... Well the results were dissapointing. He switched to 454 truck injectors and ported the crap out of the intake and got some gain. Then a bolt fell into his motor and cut the project short.
Right now, he has his 383 back and is modifying the crap out of the intake to try and make it work. He is switching the way the fuel distribution works as CFI leans the back four cyl, due a GM kludge. He has cut the EGR passage out and is going to send his throttle bodies out to be ported. Apparently there a guy out there that is taking them to 54mm, but has to sleeve them as they run into the IAC(I think).
Also, the fuel system was totally lacking for the motor and so he redid that. The complaint I heard from him is that all the pieces were perfectly in tune with the others and so replacing one piece does no good, they all have to be done to be of any value.
Im sure I have missed alot in his ongoing CFI saga. If you want to get in contact with him, let me know and Ill pass along his e-mail address.

your correct, then engine must be designed as a system, also you cant just throw 90# injectors on the engine, it wont run properly there must be stagger. The stock injectors are 60# and 66#, if you want to use 2 90's you have to plumb the tbis in parallel. Also the only person i know of who's sleeving the tbi's is dan plett on the crossfire forum. He's taken them to 2.125" and flow tests show just over 750cfm for the pair. Another member too has just sleeved his to 2.25" and is expecting 800cfm.
Most important, you have to change the ecm to a 7747 so you can tune it. The stock programming wont work on an agressive 383
