I would say yes, definitely, if and only if you can get some decent traction though. Get some slicks or drag radials. Just my .02

I'm runnin' low 14's on 245/50/16 Pep Boys Futura Ultra Z's and this was before adding the Spohn LCA relocation brackets.BD3

You may not need gears. With a cam change I was running enough mph to be into the 14's easy but alas... my car was lowered and I was just starting to race so I never made it there
I'd suggest cam and headers, that'll do it. And ditch that stupid 86 computer chip, use an 88 instead.

I run 14.6 Stock heads, cam, exhaust manifolds and intake on a 305TPI. Minor mods listed in Sig. My car is a 5-speed and came with a better cam than yours. A cam change will make a big difference for you. If you are able... do headers at the same time. The incresed exhaust flow will help out a lot with the new cam.
I have heads, cam and headers all coming very soon and all going in together ASAP. hoping for a high 13 from the Lil' 305

i have an 89 lb9 with 3.45 9 bolt rear(posi slipin and only one tires grabs) custom air intake with k&n, flowtech headers and y, no cat, stock 2 3/4 i- pipe, and flomaster 80, and the only other thing that was done is that i shifted the car manuel and held every gear to about 5200 i also have a 2400 stall coverter
and the last time i was at the track with nothing removed from the car i ran a 14.86 at 89.5mph and i could not get tracktion for $hit and the car was not runing right either
so i say it is definatly posible and have the peanut cam in my car
just do what i did

lastnight i just tried my g -tech with the new 3.42 gears i was really discusted i ran a 15.7 at 90 mph my ta only has 38 000 kilometers on it i find with my car when floored it sounds like its getting no air in it and the tranny shifts way to late like 5500 i might try manual shifting it at 4500 see if it makes a difference thanks

ya if you have a stock 305 even if you have intake and exhaust like me there is no reason to rev to 5500 i noticed that when i shfted at 5200 instead if 5500 my times were faster
i would say that you should shift at 5000

I went a best of 15.29 on a stock LB9 peanut cammed 305 by just adding a 3.27 BW 9 bolt and 225/50/15 GForce drag radials.
My goal is 13.99 on a 120,000 mile motor by this time next year, no juice allowed.

It's an 86, it has the peanut cam. Get that cam out of there and you will see significant gains on even an all stock combo.

I have a stock 87 LB9 long block with 160k on it. I removed the TPI and all the Horse Sh*t. Installed a Holley 650 dp, MSD dist, box, coil, Heddman 1 5/8 LT headers, Holley street Dominator intake, dual 2.5 flowmasters 40 series, Holley blue fuel pump and a 4.10 gear. I think it will hit 14's with no problem. Just adding a gear alone makes a hell of a difference. If your budget allows go with a cam, exhaust and a gear. It will put a sh*t eatin grin on your face and 14's. I will be going to the track this summer and will post what it ran.
