I would have done it if my car wieghed less, 13.11 @ 103.99. so I'd say it is possible. Or if I had of put a stall converter in the car.

I think it is possible for a L98 freak car that does low 14's stock. Im running 13.5 at 99 with bolt-ons. so.........Yes I do think it is possible if you have a freak car, perfect conditions, and one hell of a driver.

Wow! I've just read through several years of posts. I want to see it done. There may be more efficient ways to do it....but doing it "stock" is cool.
I've seen my friend's stock L98 '91 T/A pull a 14.12. That doesn't sound impressive....but considering it's at 5200 ft in altitude in less than optimal weather....not too bad.
For my $.02, get a Lexan rear glass (and t-tops if you have them). That back glass is HEAVY....you'll save a lot of weight. The rear spoiler is also really heavy....get an aftermarket fiberglass one.
Good luck man.....go do it!

If some one could get a 88 Notchback GTA with a fiberglass hood and gut the crap out of the car and get it in the 2800 to 3000 lb range this probability would get very interesting.

Did the guy ever achieve the 12.99 that he wanted?

That blows. It's been done by Nick Fusco who owns a thirdgen formula but he changed the cam and heads.

Wow is this thread old. I've been 12.95 at 103.8 mph with a stock head/stock cam L98 with most of the bolt ons. Full exhaust, stealth ram intake, 1.6 rockers, underdrive pulleys, drag wheels/drag suspension, 2800 stall, 3.42 gear. Others have been as quick with stock TPI i've heard. I think GTA Matt has done this with stock TPI which i find incredible!

I was close. Ended up selling for an ls1. I installed full bolt ons on that and its much easier to see 12's now

Stock TPI? That's really impressive. Was he using nitrous, or any hidden mods? No gutting out the car right?

Thats what he claimed..stock TPI and such. See above in this thread, he's gone 13.11 at the time of posting that and since then has gone much deeper into the 12 second range with a converter I think. Have to search for it
EDIT: found it... 12.85 with bolt ons and stock TPI

Awesome, thanks i will deff look into this. Btw i was reading my dads old high performance pontiac mags and i found that if you put a huge bottle of nitrous(10pounds) you'll rampage in street races, they ran 13s on the track at 113 mphs back in 87.
