Need help with o2 sensor

Ok heres the deal. Just got my headers on yesterday and took my car to the muffler shop to get a y pipe made. The idiot put the thing for my o2 sensor on the wrong side of the car. Is it ok to extend the wire and just leave it on the passenger side? Or is there a particular reason it's on the drivers side.

I also need to know of a good set of plug wires to get. My accel wires have straight boots and everyone of them are getting burnt.

Yea you can extend it, no harm done. In fact you'll only be shortening the wire since the ecm harness comes through the passenger side fender.

I like my taylor wires.

There is no problem at all splicing the wire and extending it, you mmight be able to trace it back to that side of the car...I moved about 3 entire sensors to the other side of my car for my CAI mod

FWIW, I have always read in the DIY Prom board that soldering the O2 wire is no-no. If it needs to be lengthened or shortened, it should be butt-spliced.

If you're moving the O2 sensor in the collector or the y-pipe-you'll need a heated sensor or it'll never go closed loop.

I beleive most people use the heated O2 from the ZR-1 Corvette's. IIRC it's a three wire instead of four.

I recently used this part # in long-tube headers:

AC-Delco # AFS74 is a three-wire heated sensor. The GM long# is 25312179.

AFS74: 1995 CHEVROLET S10 PICKUP V6 4.3L 262cid GAS FI N Engine VIN = Z

These are about $30-35 from- http://www.rockauto.com/ -

I have used them and they have excellent prices on parts (delivery can be a little slow). Also, enter four digit Discount Code "8940" on the "Please tell us how you heard about us" line of the shopping cart, receive an immediate 5% discount on that order until 31 Jul 02.

Two extra wires of the sensor connect to 12v source and ground.
