Removing A/C

Is it worth removing the whole A/C unit? I am not gonna be driving the car in the winter and i wont be goin out for long when its really hot...

So i figure i dont need the a/c unit at all... Will i notice a change in throttle response? engine spooling faster or anything?

How hard is it to take out hte unit urself? and do i need a different belt?

I tore out my a/c last summer and I did not notice any difference in preformance. I did notice that my engine temp is cooler on the highway. That was probally because when you remove the condenser (i think thas what it was) from in front of the radiator, you get alot better air flow.

You probally wont be able to remove the compressor because of the serpintine belt setup...at least I couldn't. But you would probally be a little faster if ya could.

From what I heard, you really lower the value of your car when you do this....not that you would sell it anyways.

The only real good reason is being able to replace every spark plug without having to get under your car. Definatly a plus if you do your own tune-ups.

I didn't notice a performance difference but like slow said I have noticed much cooler engine temps.
I removed ALL the A/C components. GM makes an A/C delete pulley to replace your compressor. It came on the 1LE's. No different belt needed.
It's easy to do yourself.

If you ever sell the car you may want to keep the parts. Better for resale value.
