try doing a search you'll get more answers.
to answer your question it will work in your 305,but you need to tap the dowel pin at the front of the cam shaft in a certain depth.if you don't that dowel pin will tear into you timing chain cover.

will it work? sure, with modification, but there are plenty better cams out there for a LB9..

yeah thats a good deal, but if you have the l98 cam its not gonna be worth the hassle of changing cams. If you have the peanut cam then oh ya it will be worth it. You'll have to take that pin off the end so it dont put a hole in your timing cover but other then that it will work.

another thing...well two things

i'm not sure if you can use a roller cam in a non-roller block.some body else mite know
?-1986 non-roller 1987-1997 roller

you don't want to remove the dowel pin you just want to tap it in untill it sits flush with you cam gear for you timing chain.

yes...87 was the start of the roller cam equiped blocks. I know summit used to have a good cam for the 85-86 IROCs.....it was made just for them...call them up and ask about it...i know a few people on here have used it and they said that it gave them a nice improvment.
