TPI reliability on swapped motor

I can either swap a in a ZZ4 with SLP runners and edelbrock base and maybe pass emissions in NJ, OR I can sell the IROC and get a 69 Z28 with the money that I sell my car for and the money I was gonna put into it. This way I wouldn't have to pass emissions with historic registration.

I don't know what to do. I love the IROC but I will face problems like TPI going haywire on me, emissions, etc. How reliable would you expect this to be? Also, if I go with a T56 at the same time which is pulled from a wrecked 4th gen... am I buying myself a very expensive problem?

Also, do I want an old school car, or a new old school car.:sillylol:
Anybody wanna add their advice on prefernce plus the reliablity issues? Keep in mind that if I go 69 style, I'm talking a $15,000 car that is already finished... new interior, new motor, new paint, etc. This way, someone else would be dumping money into a car which they can't get back and we buy it at a good price.

Why wouldn't you pass an e-check with a TPI'd ZZ4? The ZZ4 crate motor is emissions legal, when installed in a carbed 3rd gen. No reason why you can't get it to pass with injection.

Just my opinion...

I dont see why the ZZ4 w/ TPI wouldn't pass emission? I think it will, but I dont have a zz4 so i cant say for sure. I'd go ahead and run your car through inspection to see if it passes, so you'll know ahead of time, and then I'd make your decision once you know for sure if it will pass or not. As far as which car, that's nothing we can answer for you.

to my understanding, the zz4 is supposed to pass with no problems, bot i believed that when u order it, it is detuned version.

I'm not sure about NJ emissions but I passed the old Florida check with my ZZ4TPI, Edelbrock base, SLP runners, no EGR and dual cats.

I say go with the 69 because first gens are my favorite. Go with whatever car you like more.
