Has Anyone Tried Blocking Off Exhaust Crossover On TPI Intake?
Has Anyone Tried Blocking Off Exhaust Crossover On TPI Intake?
O.K., If Throttle body coolant by-pass keeps throttle body cooler, would'nt blocking off the exhaust heat crossover that allows hot exhaust to flow through intake for "winter use" keep the entire intake set-up, runners, plenum, and all alot cooler. Has anyone tried this , and did you notice much SOTP difference? Of course, from the factory, they've got these things set-up to run hot as h*ll,(..195*t-stadt, fan on at 225* or more, etc..) but cooler should be better. I remember years back when using a Edelbrock intake and Holly carb, we would always use the blockout plates that came with the new intake gasket kits. This kept things cooler. Would this benefit a TPI set-up, would it be worth removing the intake to put a set of these in, or is it a waste of time unless you're tearing it apart anyway to put on a better intake, etc? Mines a 305 so the intake , and runners are stock, except for a ported plenum, and stock 48mm TB, with coolant by-pass. Comments? Thanks in advance.

When I had my TPI set up I had the EGR blocked off on the intake and I didnt really notice much of a different. When I ported the plenium I knocked the EGR walls down and noticed a slight increase.
