TbI to TPI in S10

Hey guys...

My 92 camaro is gonna be garaged this winter in plans for a 383 and I need to get my daily driver running. I have a 91' S10 that is wrecked in the front (doghouse off) and a 91' RS that is totalled.

The 2.8 in the S10 is toast (250,000) and instead of rebuilding it I'm gonna drop in the 305 out of the RS which has only like 100g's on it.

Its a TBI. I really like the TPI setups and here's my questions.

1) Are their any differences between the two engines like heads/cam/cr. If so TPI may not be the first place to start.

2) The switch itself is cake. I have the bed off the truck, i'll even be putting in new fuel lines so switching to a different fuel pump is like 1,2,3. I guess I'm just asking is would putting on the TPI be a waste of time and money? Again, this doesn't have to be a 11s vehicle, thats what my camaro's for but I want it to suprise ppl and I'm just trying to decide which way to go.

Thanks for the help

Personally, I think TPIs are great for truck motors, especially a light truck like the S-10. I'd say do it if you have the resources. The TBI heads and cam aren't the best, especially with a TPI on top, but there should be a perfromance difference regardless, and considering the price you're looking at, I'd say it's worth it if you don't mind the work. You can always upgrade later, too (or now if you're feeling froggy).
