cam and heads recomendations

Sorry, don't really mean to do this, but I need a little help.

Future car mods on the '90 5.7. The l98 is stock with the stock 700r4 trans.
- dual exhaust with slp 1 3/4 headers to 40 series flowmasters no cats
- Edelbrock Performer intake manifold OR ported stock plenum and SLP runners (possible cold air intake after other mods done)
- underdrive pulleys, air foil, few other "small" mods
- 3.23 gears will probably be upped to 3.42

I intend to continue to have this car as my daily driver. I want it to be able to run at least mid 12s. Ran a 9.2 in the 1/8, but can do much better I think. Possibly a 9 flat.

So what do you think the best cam/head combination would be to match this setup? Anything I forgot to leave out, just ask. Thank you.

if you're not worried about smog legal than get the holley stealth ram instead of the high flo intake base and slp runner. then get a set of AFR 190 or 195cc heads with a LT4 hot cam and you got yourself a potential 12 second runner.

I am going to have a similar setup to the one derfrank mentioned. I will have the Holley Stealth Ram, a set of AFR 195s milled down to 64cc, and a Comp Cam that is a little more aggressive than the LT4 HOT Cam. This cam is 230/236 @ .050" and .510/.520 lift. I think this should really make some power. I'll have everything installed and tuned in a month or so. I'll let you guys know how it performs. I'm shooting for low 12s but who knows.

Thanks for the info. Let us know how you are doing with your mods CamaroX84. I want updates.

Do you think it'd be possible with the SLP runners and intake rather than the stealth ram?

If you port your stock one enough and use the SLPs you should be able to do it. Just make sure your port work is nice and smooth when you're all done. When I start the mods I'll make a new post and give updates. I've already got the cam and intake, and the heads are on order. Should be only a couple weeks more.
