LT1 Intake Swap DYI Tip
LT1 Intake Swap DYI Tip
For those of you doing the LT1 intake swap, and trying to do the work yourself, here's an easy way to get the distributor placement right. I made my spacer with a larger O.D., mostly so I could also use it to mount the hold down bolt. I then also drilled the Distributor hole through the manifold oversize. I put the intake on the block, slid the distributor through the spacer, manifold and into the block. When it was situated I tack welded it into place, pulled the dist and manifold back off and welded it up. Voila perfect placement. If your not welding it on, just mark the place and then bolt it on.

Great if you can aluminum weld. For the guys bolting it on, be carefull drilling the hole through the intake "oversize". That could make less material to bolt the spacer on. that's the way I understood the post.
Got any pictures? Also did you angle the spacer too?
FYI for anyone trying the swap themselfs, the location of the hole and the size for that matter isn't real critical.

Of course I angled the spacer
you guys talked about it too much not too. I probably wasn't clear enough on the oversize either, only did it the hole 1/8 of an inch oversize - in addition to the 1/8 clearance you have with the stock hole, and the spacer is actually rectangular (well kinda, contoured to match the back of the intake, with plenty of material for bolt holes). Mostly I wanted to be able to mount the distributor hold down to the same spacer, purely for esthetic reasons I guess.
