question with TPI engine swap?

I'm replacing my 305 with a stock brand new 350. Cheapest I found was $1700 form SDPC. I have about $300-400 extra and am curious what to get.

What would you guys suggest? What would be the easiest to do with the engine out of the car? Emissions legal headers? Stall Converter?

what do you guys suggest?

If you could find one, maybe a better flowing base or something to that effect. I have heard the Holley SR is pretty cheap. I also think John Millican's stuff looks pretty nice. My other suggestion would be for a cam.

Replace that cam first thing, it won't make power above 3500-3800 RPM.

Here is the engine I'm looking to get...

I guess a cam would be the best thing to swap with the engine out of the car. I know very little about cam specs and which one's would be approiate. So if I am planning to upgrade the heads next year, what kind of cam would give me power to 5000rpm and still pass strict chicago emissions? (I think 5000rpm is where our automatics shift at, right?)

If anyone could be specific and tell me exactly what cam specs...or better yet, post a link. I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks

In order to recommend a cam, we would need more info; but his should get you started.

Oh yeah. The link you gave for youe engine doesn't work by the way, so if you are using a roller motor instead of HFT, then just look for that section from the link I gave.

are you clicking on the link or cut/pasting it. You have to click on it.

The engine doesn't show any specs. Maybe if nobody can recommend a cam I'll wait a year until I can swap the cam and heads at the same time...

thanks
