water in engine oil
water in engine oil
i have water in my engine oil. i replaced the head and intake gaskets. all bolts were torque to specs. engine was not started, just put coolant in my radiator and coolant level started dropping so i check my oil level and water was in my oil. could there be anything else wrong beside head and intake cracks, maybe wrong gaskets and etc.

did you have the heads magnafluxed? (checked for cracks) did you cut the heads? did you check your intake? it might have a crack in one of the water passages.

does thermostat ring a bell?
water does in fact pass through through the front of every SBC intake. another possiblilty could be that the intake is warped just enough for it not to seal properly. as for the heads.......you always have them cut unless warpage was within tolerences. i'm trying to be optimistic here.
the last thing if it isn't one of these would be your block.

he didn't even start the car.
hey guys thanks a lots for the posts. one thing i fail to mention is that when i was cleaning the old gasket from the intake i saw some pitting in 2 areas just under the water port on the left side of the intake. could that be the reason for the leak? car has been sitting in my garage for about 3 years or more, i decided to start it one day and saw a little bit of white smoke out of tail pipes and decided to replaced the head and intake gaskets. i made sure the head and intake were torque down right.
