MAF or MAS??
MAF or MAS??
i plugged in the code reader and found i need a MAF/MAS sensor. which one do i have??? i'm pretty sure i don't have both, i'm kind of new to the EFI bussiness. for informational purposes it's an 88 formula, 305 TPI , 5 speed(not that it really matters). anyone want to help me so i don't look like an idiot when i go to the parts store? and btw, does JET or any company make a performance version of the sensor i have?

Ummmm... thats probably the least likely part you need to replace. Start by replacing the relays for the mass airflow meter (MAF), there are 2, power and burnoff relays. They are on the firewall, driver side. MAF's themselves rarely go bad.
And just so you know, your computer in your car is stupid. It doesnt know the MAF is bad, it just makes a guess and its usually wrong.

go look on your driver side firewall
there should be three fuses there, or atleast there is for me
the two which are the same need to be replace
they each cost somewhere between 12-15 bucks at a GM dealership
most likely they are blown if your car runs fine but has a hard time to start

There are three RELAYS not FUSES on the firewall. The only tools that you will need are your hands.
The three relays are:
1) MAF Burn-off relay
2) MAF Power Relay
3) Fuel Pump Relay
I am not sure which order that they are in, so I would get a Chilton repair manual, the ones signed by GM, and they have illustrations in it. This MAF Sensor code can be set off by many other things too! The oxygen sensor and those relays are the usual suspects.
