Anyone using a performance resource chip

Hey

I got some information on performance resource chips in the mail and they say that they can take as much as .6 of 1/4 mile times. The test was done on a 1991 Z28 305 tpi. The base time was 15.2 and it went down to 14.67 with the chip. I am wondering if that is true. I have a ADS chip right now and it doesnt seem all that great. It seems to run stronger with the stock chip. I havnt tested it out at the track with the stock chip vs the ADS chip but I am going to.

So if u have a performance resource chip tell me if it works at all or if its a waste of money.

Only guy i know of with a PR chip went slower with it. He then bought into their hype and paid even more money for their 'custom' chip and slowed down even more. Test car was an 86 IROC with a lot of work done to it. Ran a best of 14.1 @ 98 with a stock chip in it, and no doubt had more in it with the right chip. I don;'t think he ever ran under 14.5 @ 94 or 95 with a PR chip in it.

As if i didn't explain it in the sticky on this board, i think thats evidence enough that spending hundreds of dollars on off the shelf chips is a waste. For eery person who claims gains, there are 10 more that slowed down. Those aren't good odds in my book...

I had a PR chip on my 305. It didn't help performance at all. Didn't make it worse, just no gain. Don't buy an off the shelf chip.

I have the che pr chip in my car and it improved 1/4 a littel bitt but you dont gain 20-25 hp like the say maybe 5-10hp, the good thing to me was that it starts the fan earlier and cools down the engine when its warm weather.

Buying an aftermarket chip to have your fans turn on earlier is just plain stupid. Sorry, there's no way to candy coat that one, you can buy the stuff to burn your own chip for the same amount of money and make that change yourself.

You guys claiming gains, are you sure conditions were identical at the track. What were your MPH gains, et gains could all be explained by better driving and track prep. Even if you did see a real gain from it, i still guarantee that your experience is not the norm.

If you want to know why off the shelf chips are junk, take a look at https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=104792
