Stealth Ram track times

Ok guys, finally got to the track for you all. Here's the setup. Its a 1991 Z28, 1LE that origionally came with a 305 5spd. I recently swaped the 305 out for a 350 with 10.3 compression, out of the box trick flow 23*heads, 224/230 cam, 1.5 roller tip rockers, and a Stealth Ram. The exhaust is edelbrock TES through dual cats into a single 3 chamber flowmaster with at least 2.5 inch pipe all the way back. The car is sorta tuned, i did it myself with a laptop and Tunercats. These times are with stock traction, and a race weight of about 3400 lbs. I hear this tends to be a slippery track, and my tach also was not working, so i shifted at a preset MPH.

60' 2.268
330' 5.828
1/8 8.759
mph 84.8
1000' 11.227
1/4 13.321
mph 107.47

My best ET was 13.27x but this was my best mph. As you can see, it has major traction issues. If i could get a 1.9x 60' time i would easily be into the 12's. 1rst gear needs to be grannied, along with a small part of 2nd.

Any questions or comments are welcome, let me know what you guru's think.

Nice time! You're up with six speed LS1 cars now! With a cutout and some traction I think you could pull mid 12s.

Is that cam the comps flat tappet? Or is it a roller cam?

I'd say the next thing you need to do is some LCA relocation brackets and a different muffler, you might even see a 12 on a cool day

Not too bad for the first night out on a new combo. You should definitely be able to get that thing over 110. Could be hot weather, more tuning, or even babying through 1 & 2 keeping you down now. Also, what kind of gears you running behind that thing, stock 3.42s? If so, you probably have a couple MPH right there if you moved to 3.73s or 4.10s

Man get a tack and some stickies and blow on into the 12s with ease!!!! Who cares what the weather was as you said if you had gotten some traction youd have been solidly in the 12s.

i see that everyone is caught up in your impressive times....but the thing that im lookin at is yout t-5...hows it holding up? did the clutch slip during launch..how did u shift...did u notice n e thing funny happening..slipping grinding twisting....people have said consistanly that the t-5 wasnt very strong...your pushin 350+horse and probley more torque and if the t-5 can hol dup then i guess the "the t-5 is weak get a t-56" crowd will be silenced....
keep us/me posted about the tranny

how did the low end feel? id ont know why people say that you loose low end because the lt1's made the peak torque at 2400
thats a damn strong low end if u ask me....

I don't find his T5 still alive at all impressive. More than a few people have run in his ballpark and faster on them. Although not the greatest idea in the world, it has been shown to work at least for a decent amount of time. People would deny that a T5 can run where he is are just plain misinformed, but thats nothing new when you're talking about anything related to these cars.

As for the T5, once he puts boots on it and / or he starts beating on it, it will pop.

Great times....

Definitely good first outing. I think you have a lot more in the exhaust for sure and probably some in tuning. Also, what gear do you have? A 3.73 would complement the setup quite well. Don't worry about the T-5 for sure.....I've been running low 12's for quite some time now and mine is still kickin strong. Hope to make it into the 11's next time out.....if it ever cools off!

i wouldnt come here to start **** thats why i have a g/f...she deals with my crap....i never said that a t-5 would last longer then a t-56...i said "hows it holding up" i didnt say get a t-56 did i? i have a t-5 in my car and have beat on it since i got my car and havent had n e problem with it...i think that its underated gm should of put it behind the l98...so before u accuse me of startin **** read my post carefully

hows it holding up? did the clutch slip during launch..how did u shift...did u notice n e thing funny happening..slipping grinding twisting
no where in there did any **** stirring occur...i was curious to see if he had n e issues with him puttin all that power through it....theres always a "built on a wednesday" tranny car motor w/e but ive talked to a few guys that have 400+ horse goin through one without problems...i wanted to get a more diverse situation instead of 2 or 3 guys puttin real power through them....

yall need to relax...IM ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS!

the car has stock 3.45 gears in it right now. Traction is really really bad. I burn out in all of first, and all of second if i shift hard. It has a dual friction clutch and a mcloud flywheel, so no clutch slippage. I feel that with some traction mods and more tuning, it could easily be low 12's.

There was no clutch slippage anywhere, and i had horribly starts. I'm going again saturday hoping to break 12.999999 with stock traction.

What kind of power HP numbers do think its good for, race weight was about 3400, i think 108 mph is good for 400ish.

My next mod will be the tranny.... then after that the suspension.... then maybe it will be "done"

i didnt say this before but good times!.....i bet the ls1's will really be annoyed with you lol...gettin spanked by a ''305" camaro
i really dont know how to convert mph into power but i 365 horse by 3400 and came up with 107
i doubt this is accurate but using the number u gave me thgats what i got....with 400 it came up with 117...but i doubt im right as usual

when i launch, i rev it up to 2000 rpm and stay there. As i let out the clutch, i give it more gas to keep it about 2000 rpm. Once the clutch is all the way out, i give it alot of gas(too much) and start to spin the tires..... Its a hard launch, but it just spins the tires.... i think i panic when the light goes green and give it too much gas too quick.

You should heed your own advice. Nobody accused you of talking trash. David and I were just adding that it's not a secret that T5s have run some half decent numbers. It seemed like you were influenced by the opinion that T5s can't possibly handle a real engine, and so we wanted to make sure everyone was aware that that is a myth.

60' 2.047
330' 5.635
1/8 8.546
mph 84.94
1000 11.020
1/4 13.118
mph 107.46

Still stock traction, i just working on my starts.

Better traction? Yeah! But your time didn't improve as much as it should have. You got a much better 60 foot time, but ideally I think that run should have been in the 12s. Good job though.

you go .1 faster, but your 60' is .5 slower? Damn, what kind of tuning did you do? Get that 60' down to even your first run (2.2) and you're solidly in the 12s
