LT1 conversion questions
Should be pretty simple questions for anyone who has done it.
1) Without the EGR how do you make the ECU not throw a code without a custom chip?
2) does the LT1 intake work with any style stock TPI heads. (i.e. center bolt or perimeter bolt )
3) Aside from the custom fuel lines and remote T-stat housing how much extra did you spend on other miscelaneous pieces to complete the install (i.e. hoses for the T-stat etc.)
Thanks
Hodge

Only way I know of for the EGR is with a chip that has the EGR taken out of. But I have heard some people say that it doesnt throw a code if done rite. You'll want a chip anyway, the LT1 flows sooooo much better then the TPI and it wont take nearly full advantage of the power with a stock chip.
Yes it bolts rite up to the heads, the valve covers dont matter. You tell John what years your heads are from and he makes the intake the rite angle for it.
Some little stuff is 2 heater hoses ($30, they are long), a waterneck ($5), a TV Cable bracket ($7), you have to grind, or cut, away part of your alternator bracket ($Free). hmmmmmm depending on what style distributor you have you might need a new one. ( I got mine free from a friend) you need the small cap style with the remotely mounted coil.
Oh yeah, you need, its either 2 or 3 fittings ($2-$3)that screw into the remote mount housing that connect to the heater hoses.
I dont think Im forgetting anything.
Hope I helped

I plan on getting into chip burning. I was going to get into that first but I had to take my intake off for other reasons so I thought that now would be a good time to do the conversion then I'll get into chip burning next.

that's what I wanted to hear
