stroker kit????
i have an 86 iroc 305tpi. iam getting the stroker kit from powerhouse. i am getting vortec heads, vortec intake and im going to get it supercahrged. i know i need low compression ration and foged pistons for the sc, i know i need a harmonic balancer and a flexplate. my question is what exactly do i have to tell them i need when im ordering the kit, that will handle a sc and being raced? i appreciate your info, thank you.
Depending the power you're looking for...
You probably want a forged crank, some either aftermarket I-beam rods (eagles) or maybe even go overboard and get some H-Beam rods. Then you need all your bearings and your rings.
Thtas about what a "stroker kit" is.
You'll need to clearance your block for the rod bolts or anything that may hit when rotating.
Im currious...
If you have the money for the kit and the super charger, why are you only running vortecs? and why on a 305?

i am using a 305 because i already have a 350 and im going to see what i can get out of both of them.
im using the vortecs becuase i have heard that they are good, but maybe they are not, what heads do you think would be best?

I was only currious thats all.
Really the options on a 305 for heads are semi limited, Im not "recommending" them, but If i was to build a super charged 305 i'd probably run the vette aluminums before the vortecs just for that added detonation tollerance.
They could be ported to flow the same, aluminum is lighter, and safer.

ive been reading around the boards and i see that no body really knows any numbers on the 335 stroker, so when i finally get the motor built i will let you guys know what kind of numbers im putting out, and what track times i run.

I've been waiting for awhile and searching the boards for someone to let me know what the 335's numbers are. If you've finished with this build yet, please let me know! Super Chevy did this for their project silver streak, but to date has not answered a single e-mail of mine regarding the actual power numbers developed.
Any news would make you a :hail: of information...
Also, I too have built one too many 350's and 454's. This one looks like a new challenge.

last year
Last year I had some e-mails with one Forrest Hiser of thirdgen.org who had a stroked 305 than did low 13s and he was going to put a blower on it for 12s. He seemed pretty enthusiastic about his results to-date at that time.
If I had a 400 crank lying around I'd sure give it some thought.
RP.
