What is the least i can do...

to get a 350 into the high 13's? i haven't taken my to the track yet, but when i do, i don't want to run a mid 14 like i'm supposed to. not that a high 13 is really that fast, but if i could pull it off, then i would at least be impressed.

um... there hasn't been much work in the car, pretty much all the free/cheap mods, and the previous owner had a valve job done (i actually have the receipt from that), i supposedly have some kind of aftermarket exhaust (no idea what kind, no receipt either but a mechanic that i trust looked at it and said it wasn't stock).

that's about it. what's the minimum i can do?

and i don't want to like take out my back seat and stuff like that, i want to be able to run a high 13 just like i was driving on the road...

It's not all that easy. Mid 14s to high 13s is a good 50+ horsepower, and no single thing will do that. No two things will likely do that. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's pretty true. You should do a search to find out what would benefit you the most, and to help decide if you really want to plunge into modding your car. Check out the exhaust board too; headers are a pretty popular first mod.

By the way, I called the police and said that I saw a camaro with the plate LYV18F swirving all over the street and throwing empty MGD cans out the window.

well the first thing i'm definately gonna do is put in the new water pump that's sitting on the floor in my room at home. not that it's a performance mod or anything, it's just that the old one is broken. the next thing i was thinking about was a transgo shift kit because i plan on keeping this car for a while and i want the transmission to last and i want better shifts.

then i guess i would go with a flowmaster and headers and a new y pipe, i heard the y pipe was one of the most restrictive parts of the exhaust. i'm sure that alone wouldn't get me into the 13's, but it would probably get me a whole lot closer.

anybody else have any ideas?

thanks for your input btw, and i highly doubt you called the jersey cops from cali

I'm sorry, but I'd have to disagree with the whole Super Ram thing, course I guess maybe the guy was just trying to give you two mods that would do it, I don't know.

I beleive that any big money spent on an intake is wasted if you're not going to go into heads and cam.

It might not take all that much to get into the thirteens. Especially with a newer tpi car, they came with better cams than the 85-89 tpi, and generallly they seem to be faster.

First, make sure the car is running at its best. Good thorough tune up should be required.

You're right on the money with the exhaust. Headers, y-pipe, cat-back exhaust, and either a free-flow car or a test pipe depending on your emissions laws.

Check out the free mods in the tech articles section, and do a search on free mods. Also, get K&N filters if you don't already.

With this stuff and good traction I don't think you'd be too far off, but just for grins I'll add a few more...

Vigilante torque convertor. $700, but should lower your ETs by .4 seconds.

If you want an intake, I would suggest waiting until you can find good cheap used pieces from the thirdgen classifieds or ebay.

If you don't want to get into burning your own PROMs, you can tune your car with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (AFPR) and adjusting the base timing. This is trial and error though and you'll need to do testing to make sure you've go the right setting.

Street legal drag radials- Nittos, and LCA relocation brackets.

All of these mods should get you deep into the 13s.
