Cheap Mods for a budget Hotrodder

Does anyone have any fairly cheap horsepower mods? How effective are they and how much do they cost? I don't have a lot of money for hot rodding, especially after my tranny died.

I guess it would depend on the knowledge you have. Port your plenum, and intake, and heads if you know how. Buy a stall converter from a S-10 so it'll be higher. If you wanted gears I believe those come out chevy vans as well. Buy a catback and some headers and it ought to run good until you can do a full head/cam/intake package.
